Medical Alert

I received a disturbing call from Leonard today. As we know, Leonard has had a scare with prostate cancer. He is now having blood in his urine and he desperately needs to have an oncologist examine him. A general practitioner operating in the prison system is not sufficient; he needs to be seen by a specialist.

Your support with letters and phone calls to the proper officials is greatly needed at this time. The urgency is due to his previous scare of cancer. Only a specialist can determine the state of his health. According to his medical he is supposed to receive an exam every three months, but according to Leonard he has only been seen once a year. How can this be? As everyone knows one examination can give you warning, anyone who has had a prognosis or scare with prostate cancer, you need to see an oncologist and be examined regularly.

He has never received proper medical attentions for his medical problems, unless this problem is addressed by his supporters he will not get this matter taken care of. As we found when he did not have his diabetic supplies last year, until the outcry was so great. Then they could not deny him.

Please ask the warden at Lewisburg Prison to give Leonard Peltier the proper medical attention he has the right to.

Warden Bledsoe ~ Warden for Lewisburg Prison
The prison number is: (570) 523-1251
Fax: 570-522-7745
E-mail address: LEW/EXECASSISTANT@BOP.GOV

Lets get him the treatment he deserves.

WE HOLD THE ROCK AKWESASNE IN 1969
Mohawk Nation News
http://www.mohawknationnews.com

MNN. July 5, 2009. No Canadian or US government officials are talking to us. The guards and workers in the two checkpoints in Akwesasne have abandoned their posts since June 1, 2009. We can come and go off the island to the north. We can go off to the south but can't come back. Our ancestors invoked some basic principles for us to use in such times.

The federally run prison on Alcatraz Island in San Franciso Bay had been abandoned in 1963. In 1964 a small group of Lakota attempted to take the Island to invoke a principle in the 1868 Treaty of Laramie. All surplus abandoned federal land automatically reverts to the Indigenous nations.

On November 20, 1969 Richard Oakes of Akwesasne lead Indigenous People onto Alcatraz Island and held it until 1971. It was to prove a basic point. This event changed the relationship between Indigenous and the US government. Up to then it was negotiation, compromise and legal remedies forced down our throats by the government.

The Alcatraz Proclamation was signed, "In the name of all Indians … we reclaim this island for our Indian Nations". Other abandoned federal facilities were reclaimed afterwards.

The US government knowing this principle was furious that the Indigenous would have the audacity to invoke it. This act focused the entire world upon this basic law. The US government was put on the spot. It could no longer be hidden in the dusty archives of the Bureau of Indian Affairs basement. In 1971 Richard Oakes was assassinated.

The Mohawks of Akwesasne have always asserted our rights for the world to know. The current Cornwall Island event reveals the nature of the relationship between the Mohawks and the US and Canadian governments. The Canadian government knows we can assert our rights over the abandoned buildings in the community, the highway and bridges that go through our sovereign land.

We can invoke the Great Law of Peace which all Indigenous people adhere to. We are one people by covenant.

The checkpoints have been abandoned because we won't let their guards carry guns. We have not been violent in any way.

According to the principle, the abandoned US border checkpoint at Akwesasne irrevocably reverts to the Mohawk Nation.

The Canadian Twilight Zone check point in the middle of Kawenoke on Cornwall Island was abandoned and irrevocably reverts to the Mohawk Nation.

The two bridges and highways onto the island are closed/abandoned by the US and Canada. They irrevocably revert to the Mohawk Nation.

The RCMP and other foreign police who patrol the foot of the bridge in the city of Cornwall are trespassers. This is disputed Mohawk land. They must leave.

None of these structures cannot be torn down because they now irrevocably belong to the Mohawk Nation. You build anything on our land, it's ours.

The US checkpoint and bridge are patrolled by US Border Security Field Operations and a Mohawk Policeman. US Border Security is trespassing and must leave.

We can traverse the whole community of Akwesasne as one entity without borders. It was illegally divided by the US, Canadian and British governments into five jurisdictions – Ontario, Quebec, New York State, US and Canada. They legislated two separate councils, tribal and band, to divide us with their imaginary boundary line.

The outsiders cannot establish the perimeter of our territory to limit us to small areas of our vast Haudenosaunee territory. It is our right to decide who will cross the two bridges and enter our community and our territories.

The Mohawk elders and people made the initial demand for no guns in the hands of foreigners in our midst. Both US and Canadian band and tribal councils stood together and made demands on behalf of the sovereign Mohawk people.

The Akwesasne people took the initiative. This is an Iroquois Confederacy issue. It affects all Ongwehonwe, our friends and allies at the Canada- US and US-Mexico borders which were never meant for us. The visitors cannot apply their line to us.

Rumors has it that US and Canada might build a new bridge several miles west of Akwesasne. This is part of Haudenosaunee Territory. They have to consult us and get our permission. They think they stole this land outright. No so! Most people in the world know that Great Turtle Island is ours. They cannot show any evidence that they've legally acquired any of our land. International law was violated by the US and Canada when they made laws to claim our land and resources.

Arrangements to speak with us must be made through the Governor General and US President. Mike Mitchell, the tribal and band councils do not speak for us. Under the Great Law, they have don't speak for the Iroquois Confederacy or Mohawk Nation. Anything they decide is not valid because they represent the foreign US and Canadian jurisdictions. Our people sit under the tent at the crossroads at Kawenoke and patiently wait for them to come and make valid and legal arrangements with us.

GIVE-AND-TAKE' ON GUNS IN AKWESASNE - Video link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUeNtM6qakk

Mohawk Nation News
http://www.mohawknationnews.com

MNN. July 4, 2009. According to Mike Mitchell, the new band councilor, we hope he doesn't mean that the Indigenous give and the colonists take! He has announced a give-and-take style negotiation with Canada. The armed border guards want to come into Akwesasne in exchange for something. He suggests the Canada Border Services agents CBSA could give by taking some cultural sensitivity training. If they become sensitive to us, our laws and our rights, they will get off the island and never come back. The colony of Canada has no legal business manning their store in the middle of our community.

The Canada and US ultimatum is that they are going to keep the two bridges onto Kawenoke on Cornwall Island closed until we let them come in with guns. As a band councilor, Mitchell has been a longtime anti-Confederacy sovereignty advocate. He seems willing to compromise the Mohawk nation position.

Mitchell wants to make it look like he settled our valid complaint and come out looking like the hero. Some of the human rights complaints will be settled, he said. He wants to make the economically dying cities of Cornwall Ontario and Massena New York happy.

Any deal Mitchell makes will only apply to those 350 people who voted for him, who obviously support the colonial band council system and their goal to undermine us. They are trying to set a precedent for outsiders to patrol other Indigenous communities.

This is a nation-to-nation issue. Canada and US both know that this is a Rotino'shonni:onwe movement based on our sovereignty, which is supported by international law. A majority have to give our fully informed consent which we will never.

Watch the following short video linked to this article. You can see how happy Mohawks feel about being free of the abuse and brutality of the border guards!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUeNtM6qakk

There is talk of putting a temporary Canadian customs on the Cornwall Ontario side at the foot of the Bridge. This hasn't been brought to the Mohawks. At least the Canadian government recognizes they can't put guns on the island in the middle of Kawenoke.

Not mentioned is that this too is Mohawk territory which is under dispute. The Mohawks have given the message that we are not going to be intimidated. This is being acknowledged by the non-native community. They now know that we cannot be pushed around anymore.

We must give credit to Dooley Thompson, the former chief, and his supporters, for standing up for the people forcefully and eloquently. Hopefully Mike Mitchell learns from his predecessor that the non-natives can't walk over us. We are in the right. We don't want guns like the others. We have to take a stand and stay with it. The cutting off of traffic to Kawenoke has allowed us to feel relieved from the years of intimidation. It's a vacation from the abuse that has been going on for a long time.

The Mohawks message to the world is that tyranny has to be resisted. With the move towards global totalitarianism by the few elite thugs and their military goons, the Mohawks, our brothers, sisters, friends, allies and supporters are showing everybody how to defend themselves without using violence. Only the truth!

Letter from an Israeli Jail
By Cynthia McKinney
(Cynthia was released according to this news report:
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/dekalb/stories/2009/07/05/mckinney_israel.html
Letter from jail:

This is Cynthia McKinney and I'm speaking from an Israeli prison cellblock in Ramle. [I am one of] the Free Gaza 21, human rights activists currently imprisoned for trying to take medical supplies to Gaza, building supplies - and even crayons for children, I had a suitcase full of crayons for children. While we were on our way to Gaza the Israelis threatened to fire on our boat, but we did not turn around. The Israelis high-jacked and arrested us because we wanted to give crayons to the children in Gaza. We have been detained, and we want the people of the world to see how we have been treated just because we wanted to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.

At the outbreak of Israel's Operation `Cast Lead' [in December 2008], I boarded a Free Gaza boat with one day's notice and tried, as the US representative in a multi-national delegation, to deliver 3 tons of medical supplies to an already besieged and ravaged Gaza.

During Operation Cast Lead, U.S.-supplied F-16's rained hellfire on a trapped people. Ethnic cleansing became full scale outright genocide. U.S.-supplied white phosphorus, depleted uranium, robotic technology, DIME weapons, and cluster bombs - new weapons creating injuries never treated before by Jordanian and Norwegian doctors. I was later told by doctors who were there in Gaza during Israel's onslaught that Gaza had become Israel's veritable weapons testing laboratory, people used to test and improve the kill ratio of their weapons.

The world saw Israel's despicable violence thanks to al-Jazeera Arabic and Press TV that broadcast in English. I saw those broadcasts live and around the clock, not from the USA but from Lebanon, where my first attempt to get into Gaza had ended because the Israeli military rammed the boat I was on in international water ... It's a miracle that I'm even here to write about my second encounter with the Israeli military, again a humanitarian mission aborted by the Israeli military.

The Israeli authorities have tried to get us to confess that we committed a crime ... I am now known as Israeli prisoner number 88794. How can I be in prison for collecting crayons to kids?

Zionism has surely run out of its last legitimacy if this is what it does to people who believe so deeply in human rights for all that they put their own lives on the line for someone else's children. Israel is the fullest expression of Zionism, but if Israel fears for its security because Gaza's children have crayons then not only has Israel lost its last shred of legitimacy, but Israel must be declared a failed state.

I am facing deportation from the state that brought me here at gunpoint after commandeering our boat. I was brought to Israel against my will. I am being held in this prison because I had a dream that Gaza's children could color & paint, that Gaza's wounded could be healed, and that Gaza's bombed-out houses could be rebuilt.

But I've learned an interesting thing by being inside this prison. First of all, it's incredibly black: populated mostly by Ethiopians who also had a dream ... like my cellmates, one who is pregnant. They are all are in their twenties. They thought they were coming to the Holy Land. They had a dream that their lives would be better ... The once proud, never colonized Ethiopia [has been thrown into] the back pocket of the United States, and become a place of torture, rendition, and occupation. Ethiopians must free their country because superpower politics [have] become more important than human rights and self-determination.

My cellmates came to the Holy Land so they could be free from the exigencies of superpower politics. They committed no crime except to have a dream. They came to Israel because they thought that Israel held promise for them. Their journey to Israel through Sudan and Egypt was arduous. I can only imagine what it must have been like for them. And it wasn't cheap. Many of them represent their family's best collective efforts for self-fulfilment. They made their way to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. They got their yellow paper of identification. They got their certificate for police protection. They are refugees from tragedy, and they made it to Israel only after they arrived Israel told them "there is no UN in Israel."

The police here have license to pick them up & suck them into the black hole of a farce for a justice system. These beautiful, industrious and proud women represent the hopes of entire families. The idea of Israel tricked them and the rest of us. In a widely propagandized slick marketing campaign, Israel represented itself as a place of refuge and safety for the world's first Jews and Christian. I too believed that marketing and failed to look deeper.

The truth is that Israel lied to the world. Israel lied to the families of these young women. Israel lied to the women themselves who are now trapped in Ramle's detention facility. And what are we to do? One of my cellmates cried today. She has been here for 6 months. As an American, crying with them is not enough. The policy of the United States must be better, and while we watch President Obama give 12.8 trillion dollars to the financial elite of the United States it ought now be clear that hope, change, and `yes we can' were powerfully presented images of dignity and self-fulfilment, individually and nationally, that besieged people everywhere truly believed in.

It was a slick marketing campaign as slickly put to the world and to the voters of America as was Israel's marketing to the world. It tricked all of us but, more tragically, these young women.

We must cast an informed vote about better candidates seeking to represent us. I have read and re-read Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's letter from a Birmingham jail. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined that I too would one day have to do so. It is clear that taxpayers in Europe and the U.S. have a lot to atone for, for what they've done to others around the world.

What an irony! My son begins his law school program without me because I am in prison, in my own way trying to do my best, again, for other people's children. Forgive me, my son. I guess I'm experiencing the harsh reality which is why people need dreams. [But] I'm lucky. I will leave this place. Has Israel become the place where dreams die?

Ask the people of Palestine. Ask the stream of black and Asian men whom I see being processed at Ramle. Ask the women on my cellblock. [Ask yourself:] what are you willing to do?

Let's change the world together & reclaim what we all need as human beings: Dignity. I appeal to the United Nations to get these women of Ramle, who have done nothing wrong other than to believe in Israel as the guardian of the Holy Land, resettled in safe homes. I appeal to the United State's Department of State to include the plight of detained UNHCR-certified refugees in the Israel country report in its annual human rights report. I appeal once again to President Obama to go to Gaza: send your special envoy, George Mitchell there, and to engage Hamas as the elected choice of the Palestinian people.

I dedicate this message to those who struggle to achieve a free Palestine, and to the women I've met at Ramle. This is Cynthia McKinney, July 2nd 2009, also known as Ramle prisoner number 88794.

Cynthia McKinney is a former U.S. Congresswoman, Green Party presidential candidate, and an outspoken advocate for human rights and social justice. The first African-American woman to represent the state of Georgia, McKinney served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, from 1993-2003, and from 2005-2007. She was arrested and forcibly abducted to Israel while attempting to take humanitarian and reconstruction supplies to Gaza on June 30th. For more information, please see http://www.FreeGaza.org

Report from the Kidnapped Passengers in Ramle Prison, July 4, 2009

On Monday, June 30, 21 passengers going to challenge the blockade of Gaza on board the Spirit of Humanity were seized by the Israeli Navy and taken to Israel against their will. All their equipment was taken and some of were roughed up. All were thrown into prison to await Israel's decision on how and when they would be deported.
The majority of the group ended up in Ramle Prison. Those of us who are Free Gaza organizers had been hearing some news from them, statements, interviews and letters since they arrived. From the first night, the Free Gaza 21 have been busy trying to get news out of the prison about the illegality of Israel's actions in relation to themselves and the other inmates inside Ramle Prison who have no voice.

Report from E: I received a 2am phone call during one of the first sleepless nights from Ramle Prison to let me know that in one of the cells, four of the FG group had been busy writing a press release on an old phone one of their cellmates had loaned them. It had taken them hours to write the press release. but they were just ready to send it out, and `could I check my email to see if I had received it?'
Since that first night I have been hearing more increasingly about the plight of the other inmates of the prison; men and women who have not nearly as good an opportunity as our folk for media coverage of their stories and not nearly as good an opportunity as our folk of ever getting out of Ramle Prison.

To Fathi Jaouadi, Adie Mormesh, Ishmael Blagrove, and Captain Denis Healy, the situation of their fellow inmates is something they want to talk about and act upon. Fathi wanted to pass on news of what they have been doing inside Ramle prison; he wanted to let everyone who supports the Free Gaza Movement know that `Free Gaza Members are never lost for things to do when it comes to trying to expose Israel's appalling treatment of not just Palestinians, but all people who come to Palestine and get caught up in Israel's abuse of justice and the law.'

Fathi Jaouadi has been actively involved in Palestinian rights since he was 15 years old. Now in Ramle prison, he has already managed to organize a meeting with a UN representative and to raise the issue of the other inmates with him. He said that the UN official has agreed to follow up on some of the cases; Fathi has also been in contact with local NGO's to raise the issue of many of the inmate's situations. He told me he wants to focus on the fact that none of the inmates have any access to legal advice or help, most of the inmates have not been able to contact family to let them know of their situation and none of the inmates have committed anything that warrants them to be held indefinitely inside Ramle prison.

Fathi is in the process of collecting statements from all the inmates, and he is translating them from Arabic. He says the majority of the inmates in their cell are from Arab countries, and they have not had access to their embassy officials. He will follow up with the UN and other organizations once he is released, contact all the families and give statements and details to the relevant embassies.

Ishmael Blagrove is a well-known documentary filmmaker and has been speaking extensively about the Palestinian struggle for more than twenty years. In Ramle prison, he has been working tirelessly to get contact with refugee councils and organizations in Britain to present to them the case of the refugees inside. He says that many of the men from neighbouring Arab countries just want to go home, they don't want to stay in Israel and yet they are not being given the opportunity to speak. Ishmael says that many of the inmates are entitled to legal representation, but they do not know this, nor do they have any idea how to contact any refugee organization to advise them. Ishmael is in the process of establishing links between the refugee councils in Britain and the inmates of his cell in Ramle Prison.

Fathi and Ishmael have already established channels to publish these issues in Britain on their release.

When we called Ramle Prison today Fathi said that Adie had just finished his daily English lesson with the inmates. Adie is reportedly very happy with the progress of his students and said this morning they had successfully completed an intense session on Past Participles. Adie Mormesh has also been very active for the rights of Palestinians for many years. He spent two weeks in the West Bank with the Olive Coop (Zeitoun) and Action Palestine in 2007. He worked with and documented the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction Campaign and participated in the World Social Forums for Palestine in Porto Alegre and Mumbai in 2003 and 2004. He has now become a teacher of English in Ramle prison.

Captain Denis Healey who has been the Free Gaza Movement's captain since October 2008 and bravely steered the DIGNITY to safety in December when she was attacked by the Israeli Navy at sea, has also been quite busy; he has been giving in-depth lectures to his fellow inmates about life at sea. Apparently there are many interested parties amongst the inmates; some hope that they may pursue a life on the sea when (and sadly if) they ever get out. They are full of questions as to the procedure of getting qualified to work on and sail boats in the Mediterranean, and Captain Denis is giving them a good run down on what they should do to follow such a dream.

This is how four of our passengers have been keeping busy during the past week, they wanted to let you all know; they also said they realize the news they are sending out is not new to any of us. We have all been working with these issues of injustice for years. But that doesn't mean that every new story about the violation of human rights, about the cruelty, brutality and flagrant misuse of justice by Israel should not be published.

Our friends are stuck in Ramle prison, because they tried to visit the war-stricken people of Gaza, and they are furious at what they are seeing. They know they have generated media interest around the world, and that sooner or later, they will leave Ramle Prison, but they also know that the other inmates of the prison have no such privilege, and without our interest in them, they could well be stuck inside Ramle prison for the rest of their lives, or exiled to some foreign country that is not their home, facing a life without family or loved ones to share it with. And so it is for the 11,000 Palestinian prisoners at present inside Israeli jails. Every one of them has a story that ought to be heard.

Statement #1 taken by Fathi Jaouadi.

From Ramle Prison, 3rd July 2009.

My name is M.

I am 26 years old.

I am a Palestinian born in Al Quds and I hold a birth certificate showing this. My family comes from a village called Sour Bahr.
We have two houses there owned by my grandfather who fled in '48 to Jordan and left the houses with my Aunt.

When I was 5 years old I went with my family to Jordan to bring back the papers that proved our ownership of these two houses. We stayed in Jordan for 2 years and then, when we had all the papers we came back to Sour Bahr.

I lived all my life in one of the houses and some of my family lived in the other. We always used to make our way between our two houses which were only minutes apart from each other.

However when the Wall was built, it split our two houses apart. It used to take minutes and then it took 4 ½ hours to go from house to house.

The house I lived in was in the West Bank, the other on the side of the Wall that is Al Quds.

When I was 16 I began the process to try and obtain Israeli ID so that I could continue to enter Al Quds and go to our house that was on the other side of the Wall.

Every day my mother would go to the Interior Ministry to try and obtain my ID. She contacted many lawyers about the case but although she worked on this for 8 years, there was no result. During this time I tried often to visit our house on the Al Quds side of the wall and every time I was caught by the Israeli forces and sent back to the West Bank.

When I was 24 years old I had a fight with a friend, I was caught by Israel during the fight and imprisoned for 1 ½ years.

I am a normal Palestinian trying to live a normal life. I am not involved in any political movement and I have no security issues with Israel. I am just trying to live my life, but when I had served my time in prison for fighting with a friend, Israel could not decide where to release me.

My birth certificate said Al Quds but I had no Israeli ID. When Israel started investigating, they discovered that when I was 5 years old I had gone with my family to Jordan for 2 years.

It was then that I was told by an Israeli judge that the Law states:
`Any Palestinian who spends 2 years outside Israel has no right to return'

I have since seen Judge twice in the past two months. and he has told me that I will be returned to Jordan.

But Jordan has refused to accept me. So now I have been told I will just have to wait in prison.

I am very depressed now and hate my life. I am afraid of how long they will make me wait. It could be years. I am afraid I will be sent to Jordan. I have no one in Jordan. I was there when I was 5 years old! All my family are in Palestine. I know if they send me to Jordan I will never be allowed back into Palestine. I will never be allowed to see my family again. And I have done nothing.

I just want to be allowed to live a simple life with my family and the people I know and love, in my own land.

Interview from a kidnapped passenger, Adie Mormech
Prison Cell, Givon Jail, Ramle, Israel

Adie Mormech, one of over 21 human rights workers and crew taken prisoner on Tuesday 30th June when their boat was forcibly boarded by the Israeli navy, has spoken by mobile phone from his prison cell at Givon jail, Ramle, near Tel Aviv.

Amongst the other prisoners from the Free Gaza Movement boat, Spirit of Humanity, are Nobel Peace prize winner, Mairead Maguire, and former US Congresswoman, Cythnia McKinney. A message from McKinney on 2nd July condemned Israel for its "illegal" action in "dismantl[ing] our navigation equipment" and confiscating both the ship and its cargo of medical aid, childrens' toys and olive trees.

McKinney went on to say that "State Department and White House officials have not effected our release or taken a strong public stance to condemn the illegal actions of the Israeli Navy of enforcing a blockade of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians of Gaza, a blockade that has been condemned by President Obama."
The Free Gaza campaign succeeded in entering Gaza by sea on several occasions in 2008, carrying humanitarian aid, medical personnel, journalists and human rights workers. However, later attempts have been met with aggression by the Israeli navy, with one boat, the Dignity, having to seek refuge and repairs in Lebanon after being rammed three times by an Israeli warship.

In a brief interview with Andy Bowman of Manchester's Mule newspaper (http//www.themule.info), Mr Mormech gave the following account:
How are you being treated?

It's bad, but the conditions are OK for me, I've not been beaten up, they're a bit nasty sometimes and when they boarded the boat we had our faces slammed against the floor. It was bad for the older women like Mairead.

The four other UK nationals are in the cell with me. There's 14 of us in the 7 by 7 meter cell which includes the toilet and shower, so very crowded. It's very hot and there's only a tiny window. We get awakened at 6 in the morning for an inspection and have to stand to attention, and then they repeat that at 9 am, and we are only allowed out of the cells for a few hours each day. They keep giving us forms to sign but they are in Hebrew so we don't. Although I'm able to cope here, other people are less comfortable than me in the situation. If we're here for a long time – like some of the other people in here have been – then it will be tough.

Have you had access to a lawyer yet?

We have, and at the moment we're discussing what to do about our deportation. They've taken our personal items – laptops, cameras, phones and many other valuables, and we want to find out where these are. They obviously want to deport us as quickly as possible, but some of us are thinking about fighting the deportation. Firstly on the basis that if we get deported we won't be allowed into the occupied West Bank or Israel for another 10 years, but also, because we didn't intend to come here to Israel – we intended to go to Gaza, and went directly from international waters into Palestinian waters. There is nothing legal about what Israel has done to us grabbing us like this. We're considering fighting the deportation on the grounds that we shouldn't accept and legitimize this barbaric military blockade of Gaza.

If you challenge the deportation could you remain in prison for a while longer?

Yes we could – there's some people that need to get home, but some will challenge. And for those it will be a few more weeks in prison at least, we expect.

And you?

I'm veering towards challenging it on the basis that it's a scar on my name to accept that I shouldn't have been here, but in fact I have every right to go to Gaza just as everyone else does. That's the whole point of these voyages and that's the principle we want to stick to.

Have they told you what has happened to the cargo of the boat?

No, we don't know what they're doing with it. We've been told a lot of lies so far about where we're going and what's happening to us, so we just don't know. They're already prepared to deprive the people of Gaza of a lot of aid anyway.

What is your message to people back in the UK?

This is not about us here in the cells, it's about the denial of human rights to the people of Palestine, and in particular the inhumane blockade of Gaza. People must not forget about what is happening to Gaza. At the moment they are even being denied food and medical supplies. After the carnage of the 1500 people killed in January, we won't forget and we'll keep on going and keep fighting for the human rights of the people of Palestine.

PEACE CARAVAN HEADS FOR AKWESASNE
Mohawk Nation News
http://www.mohawknationnews.com

MNN. June 28, 2009. To support the Mohawks of Akwesasne who refuse to allow the border guards to carry guns at the CBSA check point, a Peace Caravan will be arriving on Wednesay, June 30. It will start in Six Nations and head east on the 401 to the Cornwall exit. The Six Nations police will be escorting the caravan over the International Bridge to Kahwenoke, Cornwall Island, to the tent site next to the former Canada Customs at approx. 3pm. There may be over 200 cars plus 4 buses. Hundreds of supporters are expected. Many are arriving on Tues. June 29th. All are welcome to stay for July 1st to hear speakers and take part in socials.

For those coming from the US side or making donations, they may go to or cross over from Loran Thompson's Dock or Mac's Marina at the old church in St. Regis, off Highway 37 to Cornwall Island.

Bring your camping gear.

NEEDED: water, food and money. Funds would be greatly appreciated: Go to www.akwesasnewomensfire.com and donate online. For donations by check or money order please send to: Akwesasne Womens Fire, 936 Island Rd, Akwesasne ON K6H 5R7

For further information please contact: Rosemarie White 613-93... ; Veronica Cook; 915-88... ; Neddy Thompson 613-57... ; and Nona Benedict 613-55... (c) 613-93... (h) nonabena@yahoo.com

NOTE: Please disregard the unsigned June 27th press release from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne which tried to redirect supporters to Ottawa. [ 613-93... bwhite@akwesasne.ca]. Health Canada also gave a dire warning for Indigenous communities to stay away from large social gatherings to stop the spread of swine flu. Former Chief Nona Benedict responded: "Does this mean July 1 Fireworks are canceled, as well as all future lacrosse games at the arena and the Akwesasne Pow-wow?"

Canada is reviving the old tactic of disinformation, intimidation and threats. We are in the right. We don't want guns! This is a time to negotiate from a position of strength, not fear or weakness. We can't have appeasers make deals behind our backs. If we start giving away piecemeal, eventually we will wind up with nothing.

The Mohawks are obviously not going to break the peace that has pervaded the situation from the beginning to now. The Peacemaker Dekanawida and our ancestors will be proud of the message of peace that we have maintained. If anybody causes trouble, it will be outside agitators, police forces, military, undercover agents and professional trouble makers. We won't fall for it. We will protect each other.

We thank everybody for supporting us.

Subject: Statement for Oglala Commemoration

Statement by Leonard Peltier for the Oglala Commemoration on Pine Ridge Reservation, today June 26th, 2009

Greetings my friends and relatives,

I want to start off this statement or speech or whatever you want to call it by saying again as I've said before thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and for standing up for right wherever you are. I can't express to you in words how extremely grateful I am not just to the people of America but to the people all over the world who have supported the cause of Indian people and myself.

I know a lot of you have given up a lot to help so many in my predicament. Daily I am made aware of political prisoners around the world. Many who have been killed or tortured or who knows what for trying to right the wrongs in their area, country or nation. I have been asked to make statements in support of other movement people around the world from time to time, South America, Europe and other places. People who love freedom, people who love the earth, people who love their family, people who love the freedom to make their own choice with their own resources, and all indigenous people- we share a common bond. The bond of brother and sister hood, the bond of believing there is a greater power than ourselves. And I don't mean some government power; I mean the greatest power in all the universe: the Creator Himself.

We also as human beings upon this earth have to recognize that there have always been those who suffer from an illness called greed. They have an appetite for gaining material wealth that is never satisfied. They have an appetite for land that is never satisfied. And the most common symptom of their illness is indifference to the suffering they cause with their quest. These people are the ones that have identified themselves as our common enemy. It is so terrible that under the guise of religion and shouting freedom they pit one people against another. This isn't something new. All down through history it has taken place. All down through history there have been men, spiritual men, holy men, great thinkers and philosophers who have tried to unite us against this common enemy.

Today my brothers and sisters I want you to know that if nothing else if we don't unite against the destruction against the Mother Earth we will have a common future that is void of clean air, clean water, and basic freedoms. We must reach our hands out to embrace others to the cause of life. We must do our best from where ever we are with whatever tools available to enhance and further our quality of life. We must find a way to break down the barriers that divide one people from another. We must find the things we have in common and find ways to solve our differences as basic humanity. We must evolve to a higher level of thinking or to as you might say a traditional level of thinking which obviously is superior to what they call progress today. Our traditional values taught us to live in harmony with Earth the greatest manifestation of the Creator that we have to relate to. Our traditions taught us to respect our bodies the greatest gift we have or possess as an individual. Our traditions taught us to preserve the environment for our children and all our future generations. As a member of the American Indian Movement these values are what we were about. Poverty isn't solved by money: poverty is solved by attitude. The problems we have today among all our people are caused by attitude. They are caused by an attitude that was given to us in boarding schools and on reservations that were nothing more than concentration camps in the past. They are attitudes by people who came to us talking to us about God and wanting us to embrace their version of religion and as one brother said once, "They told us to bow our heads, and when we looked up our land was gone, our culture was gone, our children was gone, our way of life was gone." And now the air itself is dwindling.

I have been in this cage for some 34 years and though I have been caged I have sought the spirit in prayer of our brother the eagle, I have sought to have an overview of things for as anyone can see I don't have the freedom to examine life from a close perspective. And from this distant view, abstract view, this detached view, at times I get to see the destruction and divisiveness that these political powers that have scattered us for so long have involved themselves in promoting among our people. I don't know if it is because I am older now or because my future is so uncertain or if through some spiritual inspiration I deeply want to say so much. I deeply want to move you to do something to save our earth and our children and our children's future. I didn't get to raise my children; I haven't got to really know them or my children's children. I may never get to, but I love them all just the same. And I love life as much as anyone on the outside. And I don't know how long I will walk this cage. Some days I feel quite healthy and energized and some days I feel like the 64 year old man that I am. I'm always hopeful that I will be free at some point, perhaps in the latter part of July after my parole hearing, and perhaps I won't. The people that hold me, the FBI and the conglomerate corporations that have for so long controlled the resources of this country and others and for so long have done their best to stifle, to denigrate, and to vilify the voice of the oppressed are some of the most formidable well funded political people on Earth. I was told that the FBI themselves are some 10,000 strong.

I am but a common man, I am not a speaker but I have spoken. I am not all that tall but I have stood up. I am not a philosopher or poet or a singer or any of those things that particularly inspire people but the one thing that I am is the evidence that this country lied when they said there was justice for all. I am the evidence that they lied when they extradited me from Canada. I am the evidence that they can lie at your trial, they can manufacture evidence at your trial, they can intimidate witnesses at your trial, they can have back room conversations and agreements with the judge at your trial. I am the evidence that the attitude, the powers that be still hold us in a grip. They hold us in an emotional grip. They hold us in a poverty grip. They hold us in a cultural deprivation grip. I could go on and on about the things that go on that weigh so heavily against our people but the bottom line is my case is well documented by court after court after court, by hearing after hearing after hearing, by statement after statement after statement. And we as a people are the evidence that this country fails to keep its treaties, this country fails to keep its word. This country has failed to follow its own Constitution - the treaty between the people and the government. We are that evidence. I am nothing more than evidence. That is why people all over the world and here at home have supported the cause of justice in my case. In my particular situation I can't say that there will ever be any level of justice.

They cannot give back the 34 years of life that have been taken from me. They can not give back the life of Joe Stuntz that they took June 26th 1975. They cannot give back the lives of the 60 something people that they directly or indirectly caused the death of. They cannot give back the thousand upon thousands of Indian people that were killed and abused since the inception of this government. But the one thing we can do, we must do, is find a way to change their attitude. My brother Leonard Crow Dog once said, "If you want to change the white man you have to change his religion." And religion is a word that means how you do something on a regular basis; most generally it is associated with your spirituality. Perhaps with global warming as it is and the changes in the weather patterns and the questionable future that faces the earth, they will start to listen. Maybe they will reach back and embrace the words of our people foretold again and again. We must live the way that the Earth will renew itself every spring. We must help them reach back. We must speak to them at every opportunity. We must make an effort to reach back ourselves to our own cultural values. And in doing so we can start to solve the many destructive challenges we face. We must more than ever before find a way to heal the wounds of our children and prevent the social illnesses that are so prevalent across our reservations and communities. We have the tools, we have the teachings, we have the philosophies, we have the culture, we have the artists, we have the singers, we have the philosophers, I could go on and on but in essence what I am trying to say is it is imperative that we bring together all our resources to enhance the future for our children in a way that they themselves can further the healthy teachings of our culture and way of life; and in doing so I have no doubt that we can change the world.

If I am freed next month or if I die in prison remember my words and remember we are evidence that the Creator made a beautiful people a people that respected the Earth and nature and each other. We are evidence on every level of goodness that when the Creator made us He meant for us to be free. All our traditions have taught us this way. And even this very form of government that exists today was copied from our people. Our people with our foods, our medicines, belief in freedom and right to choose have influenced the world. It's too bad they didn't adopt a healthy attitude that we had toward the Earth or an attitude of respect for us the first keepers of this portion of the Earth. If there is something about me that this government can point at and say is wrong or any person say is wrong I will by my own choice, if it proves to be fact, seek to fix it myself. But I also want to remind them the policies that have been in place for so long have made us what we are today. The policies that have been in place for so long, have created another reservation called Iraq and another reservation called Afghanistan, and the list goes on and on, you see what's happening over there is what happened here and all down through North and South America.

I am just a common man and I am evidence that the powers that put me here would like to sweep under the carpet. The same way they did all of our past leaders, warriors and people they massacred. Just as at Wounded Knee the Fifth Cavalry sought its revenge for Custer's loss and massacred some 300 Indian men women and children then gave out 23 Medals of Honor and swept the evidence of their wrongdoing aside. Perhaps this statement is somewhat more lengthy than the others I've made; perhaps it is some things I should have said before and perhaps more, if so I hope you will forgive me. I recently was thought to be having a heart attack because of pain in my chest. After having been beaten and kicked and stomped in the last year, I am not quite sure what was causing the pain. I had never been beaten, kicked and stomped like that before. And also I have never been 64 years old before. The one thing all this did for me is it really brought home my sense of mortality. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in this prison. And I don't want you to spend the rest of your life in some prison of the mind, heart or attitude. I want you to enjoy your life.

If nothing else give somebody a hug for me and say, "This is from Leonard."
In the Spirit of Crazy Horse

Update: From Mike Wilson, Tohono O'odham

Mike Wilson, Tohono O'odham who puts out water for migrants on Tohono O'odham land, against the wishes of the tribal government, responds to the ACLU opposing a migrant prison in Tohono O'odham's San Xavier District.
From Mike Wilson, published with permission:
"What a victory for those of us opposed to the detention facility. I still don't want the facility on O'odham land anywhere! It's one blood stained injustice heaped upon another. First, the Tohono O'odham tribal Government is vehemently opposed to allowing humanitarian aid on tribal lands. Second, tribal authorities have authorized the removal of my water stations from Baboquivari and Schuck Toac Districts. Third, and now the Tohono O'odham Nation is seeking to maximize a profit on the backs of destitute migrants, many who are Indigenous People from Southern Mexico and Guatemala. The Nation is anxious to take blood money from the Department of Homeland Security. Shamefully, we who were once oppressed are now the willing oppressors.
(No More Deaths (NMD)press conference was held to protest the conviction in federal court of one of their volunteers, Walt Stanton, for "knowingly littering" on federal land.) I was asked by NMD to be the last presenter and I agreed. The reality is that as tribal members of the Tohono O'odham Nation David Garcia and I are now vulnerable to arrest and conviction for doing the same thing on Tohono O'odham tribal lands. The legal precedent has now been irreversibly set for federal prosecution of humanitarian volunteers, like us, for knowing placing gallons of water for migrants in distress on any federal properties, inclusive of Native American reservations. The truth is, despite our mythical notions of "sovereignty", reservations are first, foremost and manifestly, Federal Properties managed by the Department of Interior and it's agent, the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Thanks, Mike Wilson"

MILITIAS FORMED TO ATTACK MOHAWKS

Mohawk Nation News
http://www.mohawknationnews.com

MNN. June 25, 2009. The neo-nazi Caledonia Militia was formed in Cayuga Ontario on June 23rd with insignias on their uniforms such as Northern Alliance and Rahowa [Racial Holy War]. Another was formed in Picton. Civilians carrying out military actions against a designated race is a criminal offence.

Akwesasne has been isolated since June 1, 2009. The US and Canada have blocked both bridges to Kawenoke, Cornwall Island. We demanded no guns in our community. This took the steam out of the fake propaganda designating us as militants to justify armed aggression against us.

To take away our civil rights, Canada's Department of National Defense manual designated us as insurgents. International Global Risk lists us as terrorists, along with Al Qaida, Tamil Tigers and the Taliban. These are unfounded slurs against our valiant people. During WW II we declared war against the Nazis on the steps of the Capitol. Many of our men died defending democracy and Great Turtle Island.

Predator drones that prey on and attack enemy combatants are flying over us and our neighbors. They are being launched from the Fort Drum US military base. They fly three miles up under the civilian US Customs and Border Protection Agency. These civilian and military agencies are under one command.

A major political agenda is being advanced, taking over northern Great Turtle Island to set up a dictatorship.

These two fascist civilian militias openly profess racism and violence against us. They appear to have legal protection. They are financed with lots of money, maybe by the multinationals. They are well equipped with radios, high tech supplies and maybe weapons like pepper spray, tasers or other gadgets.
Half of the US presence In Iraq are private armies or mercenaries under no scrutiny like militias. Former military or private security or independent mercenaries train them to attack unarmed civilians.

Storm troops play a key role in setting up totalitarian power. The regular military is sent out of the country. Mercenaries take over the homeland. Small squads with subordinate groups are organized throughout the country. They come together in large formations. They test experimental tactics and weapons. Incognito mercenaries stand at the back of meetings to protect the militias.

Gary McHale and Doug Fleming, well-known neo-nazis, are setting up these militias in Ontario. www.marchforfreedom.com Politician, Randy Hillier, has a longtime connection with these Red Necks. While aspiring to head the Ontario Conservatives, Hillier constantly calls for launching the army against the Indigenous and taking the law into his own hands. No habeas corpus. No civil rights for us.

US and Canada do not want to make it look like the cops are going after us. Vigilantes do the dirty work. They operate outside the law and create their own. McHale and Fleming plan direct confrontations with us, to shut down our trade and commerce and use force to carry out illegal arrests. Weapons, tasers and threats will be used. We will be held until the cops or military arrive to take us to jail or holding units. They will be trained to go to court to testify against us and get convictions.

Fascist moles seem to have wormed their way into the government, policing, military and the court and prison system.

Fascist right wing hit squads recruit from the unemployed, working class, local agitators, drunks, drug addicts, deadbeat dads, brawlers, KKK, skinheads, ex-police and ex-soldiers. The court and prison systems provide them with gangsters and criminals. They are especially interested in those who hate us and want to physically hurt us. They're losers who want to be winners. To get around any bans, 14 to 18 year olds can attack people without being charged as adults.
Militias see themselves as the ground forces that create and attack scapegoats. These goons hope to grow to thousands and maybe more. They could outnumber the regular army and police forces. They hope to become big shots in the big new order that will rule the world for a thousand years! The politicians think they can control the militia and the mobs. Eventually the psychopaths will step in like the SS that surrounded their messianic leader, Adolph Hitler.

To continue their bogus war on terror, the international war thugs have to destroy democracy where everyone is equal and has a voice. Our constitution, the Great Law of Peace, is the model for the US Constitution. The Two Row Wampum international relationship comes from our constitution. We were the first nation to take the Great Law and we intend to uphold constitutional law.

We condemn these uprisings by these foreign interests who are violating the harmonious relationships we developed through treaties, agreements and negotiated covenants. We refuse to be anyone's victims. We Indigenous People are one and we stand together!

Tucson, AZ Local humanitarian, environmental, human rights and religious organizations are joining together to demand that Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and the Department of the Interior participate in, rather than penalize, efforts to save lives on federal lands.

At a press conference on Wednesday, June 17, representatives from more than fifty organizations will unveil an open letter to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge manager Mike Hawkes asking for a meeting with officials within two weeks, or no later than July 1st.

The groups are challenging federal officials to proactively respond to the deaths along the border in a way consistent with international human rights laws. Among the participating organizations will be No More Deaths, the Tucson and Green Valley Samaritans, and Humane Borders.

The Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge has regularly denied permits to humanitarian groups to put environmentally friendly water tanks for migrants in distress on their land. Humane Borders operates three such stations, but has for several years been denied requests for additional ones.

The remains of eight people have already been recovered from the Wildlife Refuge this year alone. The June 3rd conviction of a humanitarian volunteer for placing clean drinking water on the refuge highlighted the importance of having more cooperation from federal land managers in responding to the humanitarian crisis unfolding along the US/Mexico border.

"The United States in is violation of human rights by pursuing a failed border strategy that uses death as a deterrent" said Rev. John Fife, retired pastor of Southside Presbyterian Church. "The prosecution of humanitarian aid workers and the continuing refusal to place water where people are dying is evidence of that systemic violation of human rights and destruction of public lands."

"I was picking up empty bottles when I was cited for littering, which makes the charge even more ridiculous? said Walt Staton, a volunteer with No More Deaths, who now faces prison time for putting out water on the refuge. "I expect the leadership of Buenos Aires to sit down and talk with us rather than have their staff chase us around the desert and use their resources on littering tickets."

In seeking the cooperation of officials from BANWR and the Department of the Interior, the organizations represented will affirm their commitment to work to end the humanitarian, environmental and human rights crises on the border. It is our firm belief that faith, good sense, civic responsibility and the law require us to do so. The era of border enforcement that uses death as a deterrent must come to an end.

Supreme Court upholds Nazi/US regime at border

No Border Wall Coalition Condemns the Supreme Court's Failure to Restore the Rule of Law to the Border

The Supreme Court's refusal to hear arguments that the waiving of all state, local, and federal laws to build the border wall is unconstitutional is a tremendous blow for border residents and the principle of the rule of law. We had hoped that the court would honor its obligation to examine the constitutionality of section 102 of the Real ID Act, which is an unprecedented power grab by the Executive branch, and which creates unequal legal protections for U.S. citizens that are solely dependant upon what part of the country one lives in. In this instance the Supreme Court shirked its duty, leaving the border without the benefit of the rule of law that is enjoyed by the rest of our nation.

Section 102 of the Real ID Act allows for the suspension of all laws to build the border wall, stating, "Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall have the authority to waive all legal requirements such Secretary, in such Secretary's sole discretion, determines necessary to ensure expeditious construction of the barriers and roads under this section." No other United States citizen is granted this extreme power under any circumstance.. Even the president does not have this power to waive our nation's laws, no matter what crisis may arise.

When former Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff waived 36 federal laws in April 2008, he knew that in building border walls he would be violating those laws. Obeying the law is not voluntary, it is mandatory. In a nation of laws all laws must be respected, not just those that are convenient. Those laws were enacted to prevent the kind of damage that we see everywhere border walls have been built.

For plaintiffs such as the Frontera Audubon Society, the Friends of the Wildlife Corridor, and the Friends of Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, the fate of the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge is of particular concern. Consisting of individual tracts of native habitat linked by the Rio Grande, it creates a wildlife corridor, providing federally endangered species such as the ocelot and jaguarundi sufficient territory to find food, water, and mates. Migratory birds also rely on it to rest and refuel on their annual journeys, as well as for nesting. The border walls that have been built, and those that are still under construction, slice through many refuge tracts and cut off others from the river. The wall is fragmenting habitat, blocking migratory pathways, denying animals access to fresh water, and isolating breeding populations of endangered ocelot and jagurandi. Because the Endangered Species Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the National Wildlife Refuge System Administration Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act were among the 36 federal laws that the former Secretary swept aside, none of the usual legal protections for these supposedly protected lands remain.

In addition, Texas border communities depend upon the Rio Grande for irrigation and drinking water. But former Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff waived not only the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act, but also "all federal, state, or other laws, regulations and legal requirements of, deriving from, or related to the subject of" those, and 34 other, laws. So where the wall has been built, in El Paso and Eagle Pass and Hidalgo and Brownsville and other border communities that draw water from the Rio Grande, all laws "related to the subject of" water are no longer in effect. This absurd situation prompted the El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1 and the Hudspeth County Conservation and Reclamation District No. 1 to take part in the challenge to the constitutionality of the Real ID Act's waiver authority.

Equal protection under the law is meant to be a fundamental right shared by every American, but the Real ID Act makes the legal rights of citizens who live near the border conditional on the whims of an unelected Administration appointee. The Secretary of Homeland Security cannot waive the laws that protect citizens who live away from the border. Only border residents may have their legal protections waived.

When the Supreme Court decided not to hear these arguments without uttering so much as a word as to why, they shirked their duty as the final arbiters of the United States constitution and the principle of the rule of law that it enshrines. This precedent bodes ill for the rest of the nation, as any manufactured crisis may be used to enact a similar waiver. A "broken" northern border may be the pretext for a new bill waiving laws along the Canadian boundary, or an "energy crisis" may provide a convenient excuse to do away with laws that prevent drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The Supreme Court's inaction will likely have repercussions beyond the destruction wrought by the border wall.

No Border Wall is a grassroots coalition of groups and individuals united in the belief that a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border will do irreparable harm to our borderlands and the nation as a whole. No Border Wall is opposed to the construction of a border wall because of the devastating consequences such a wall would have on border economies, on the environment, on human rights, and on the U.S. relationship with Mexico and the rest of the world.

MNN: BOOBY TRAPPED ROAD TO FASCISM

Mohwak Nation News
http://www.mohawknationnews.com

MNN. June 14 2009. Fascism is when the oligarchs put together enough force to enslave society in the interests of a few. It starts with fervent nationalism. Scapegoats are picked. Genocide is planned. Properties, authority and resources are seized. Territory is expanded.

THE LEADER is charismatic and backed by huge corporations. He's an ideologue with an uncompromising belief system. He seizes power and directs the state to implement his ideas on how the world should operate. He becomes the supreme commander of the armed forces and the high court until a new election is called, if ever.

A strong central government is created under a hard line paternalistic leader. Appointees must submit to him. Rivals are silenced or eliminated through wild unfounded accusations and smear campaigns. Members of the government vote in favor of these measures in return for protection. Otherwise they could be barred from attending sessions.

The constitution is suspended by declaring emergencies. Checks and balances are removed. No questions can be asked. Power is exercised through emergency decrees blamed on an unworkable parliament or congress. Laws and decrees are passed to protect the dictator from criticism, corruption charges, criminal activities and abuse of power. His term becomes indefinite.

Other parties are banned or dissolved. State and provincial governments are abolished.

MILITARY AND PARA MILITARY power takes over the national police and military. Old army officers and reserves are called into service. Stockwell Day suggested that all agents and government employees wear uniforms.

SCAPEGOATS are created. Some are attacked and almost beaten to death. Public anger and frustration are focused on one target who have been labeled terrorists or insurgents to cause hysteria. The military takes them out of the civil court system, i.e. Guantanamo Bay. Their communities are boycotted. Agents are sent in to vandalize their properties and make them look bad. Strict penalties are set for anyone who conducts alleged phony "economic sabotage" such as protecting the environment, resources and territories.

PROPAGANDA is brainwashing to support the views of the fascists. The occult or forced conversion to one world religion causes confusion, conformist thinking and escapism. Non-followers can't get jobs or food or services.

Media and access to information is controlled.

Small groups are infiltrated, especially the youth. Obama has created a youth corps to keep an eye on their parents and neighbors. A snitch line has been set up like the 911, Crime Stoppers and hot lines to spy on anyone anonymously.

Party supporters are sent out to distribute information and to recruit. Frequent meetings are held to feed into the frightened state of mind in troubled times.

Public meetings are stormed. Declarations are made. Destruction of opponents is demanded. Suggestions are made to set up or support a new strict government. Organizers cause dissention inside dissident groups.

Agents set up a coup-like atmosphere like marches and demonstrations. They wear out the people and give police and military practice in controlling and scaring the public.

The state makes decisions over peoples' lives and gathers information from the cradle to the grave. Microchips from central data banks contain information on medical records, licenses, education, social services, travel, etc.
AN ECONOMIC depression is created. If the head of Bank of Canada or Bank of America disagree with the emperor, they are replaced.

Local business interests are forced to cooperate with the fascists. Large multinational companies like Wal Mart are brought in to destroy small businesses.

Appeals are made to the working class, petit bourgeois like bank clerks, middle management and those who are ambitious. They see fascism as a way to rise up in the system and become heads in the new regime. Industrialists, monarchists and the monied class fanatically support fascism. Foreign collaborators, rich authoritarians, opportunists, media moguls and business men finance the party.

Labor unions are brought under control or wiped out.

Economic engineering includes debt flotation and military expansion. Financing is based on currency manipulation including credit debts. High unemployment is maintained. Arms production is accelerated. Built are dams, highways, railroads and civic works like prisons, labor camps and holding facilities for indefinite periods.

More cops are hired. Court workers and judicial officers are increased. Legal aid, social assistance, housing and other social services are cut. Child welfare agencies are given more power to seize children. Prison sentences are longer. Control mechanisms include more probation officers, judicial supervision, conditional sentences and supervisory court orders.

Women stay home. The state takes the kids. The Fuhrer becomes their father. The standard of living is kept down. Wages are reduced. People are told to make sacrifices for the mother land.

AGGRESSIVE LAW AND ORDER campaigns are started to keep the fascists in power. Periodic demonstrations like the Nuremberg rallies are set up so the head honcho can give long confusing public speeches.

HABEAS CORPUS is suspended. Freedom of speech and assembly are suppressed.

REVOLUTIONARY DEALS are kept secret. The people have to be kept asleep so they don't ask questions.

PRETEXT EVENTS are staged like 911 to justify bringing in anti terrorism laws and repressive measures to take away liberty in the name of security.

FOOD RATIONING is established. Hydroponic centers chemically produce food to replace farmers.

EUGENICS - Get rid of "Useless eaters", anyone who refuses to become part of the laboring or slave class is dispensed with. Pressure is put on people by limiting access to their needs.

WAR - Adjacent territories are taken over and become protectorates as part of empire building. Everybody becomes a citizen of the world under one global order. Cultures and languages are wiped out. Americans and their supporters declare themselves to be carrying out their manifest destiny.

Government must appear to be moderate. Everybody else is being stubborn. While they call for peace, these inhuman tyrants start small local conflicts before going into a large war. If you think this is a conspiracy theory, it's already happening. Look for yourself!

When Bush/Skull and Bones attempted to silence Apaches over Geronimo's remains
by Brenda Norrell
In case you missed it, here's rare interviews with Raleigh Thompson, San Carlos Apache, who was a tribal councilman when he met with the Bush family and the Skull and Bones attorney, in New York, during meetings in the 1980s. The Bush family and Skull and Bones admitted what happened to Geronimo's grave and attempted to silence the San Carlos Apache leaders. The first interview with Thompson was carried out on Mount Graham, during the Sacred Run in 2003. The second interview was in Arizona in 2004. Finally, at the end, is a link to a list of Skull and Bones members. There you'll see that the opposed Desert Rock power plant on Navajoland, is rooted in Skull and Bones dollars and the lust for more dollars.
By Brenda Norrell
9-30-2003
The Skull and Bones Society admitted to Apache leaders 17 years ago that they had a skull they call "Geronimo's" in their secret cult museum in New Haven, Conn. Still, his remains have not been returned.
Raleigh Thompson, former San Carlos Apache tribal councilman for 16 years, said it is time to bring Geronimo home to be buried in the mountains that he loved.
"Geronimo left his rifle and peace pipe here when they took him away," Thompson said.
"When Geronimo was taken from this land, he wanted to come back and be buried on San Carlos in the Triplet Mountains."
During an interview at the Mount Graham Sacred Run, Thompson said he was present in New York when the Skull and Bones Society admitted that it held Geronimo's remains in 1986.
"They dug up Geronimo's body in 1918. His body is at the Skull and Bones Museum. Grandfather Prescott Bush dug it up," Thompson said.
The grave robbing was exposed when Apache leaders received a photo and information in the 1980s. The informant, fearing for his life and never identified, provided Apache leaders with a photo of the cult museum's display of Geronimo's remains in a glass cage. The informant also provided a copy of a Skull and Bones Society log book, in which the 1918 grave robbery was recorded. According to the Skull and Bones log book entry, Prescott Bush, grandfather of George W. Bush, and five other officers at Fort Sill, Okla., desecrated Geronimo's grave.
After receiving the information, San Carlos Chairman Ned Anderson, Thompson and tribal attorney Joe Sparks were in an Apache tribal delegation which met with the Society. During a series of meetings, they met with Skull and Bones officials and Jonathan Bush in New York City in 1986. However, Thompson said the skull that the Skull and Bones Society offered to return to the Apache delegation was that of a young boy, not Geronimo, and the Apache leaders refused it.
"They admitted that they called this skull Geronimo. They gave us the skull, but the skull was so small that it looked like a young boy's skull." Thompson said.
"Based on that, we didn't want to take the skull. I think they switched the skull on us."
Thompson said the Skull and Bones Society has other items of Geronimo's, including one of Geronimo's elbow bones and his horse's bridle bit and straps. They have been on display in a museum cage in the secret society's "tomb," as shown in the photograph the Apache leaders received. In the 1980s, Anderson pressed Arizona congressmen, including Republican Senator John McCain, for assistance in retrieving Geronimo's remains. However, Skull and Bones did not return the remains. Anderson gave congressmen a copy of the Skull and Bones Society's internal history, "Continuation of the History of Our Order for the Century Celebration," written June 17, 1933, by The Little Devil of D'121."

This log book states that the attack on Geronimo's grave was in May 1918, at Fort Sill. One of the grave robbers advised the others to proceed with caution. He is quoted as saying, "Six army captains robbing a grave wouldn't look good in the papers."

Skull and Bones members are referred to as "patriarchs" in the early log book. The reference to Prescott Bush is written as "Patriarch Bush." The log book states, "The ring of pick on stone and thud of earth on earth alone disturbs the peace of the prairie. An axe pried open the iron door of the tomb, and Pat[riarch] Bush entered and started to dig. We dug in turn, each on relief taking a turn on the road ·"

"We quickly closed the grave, shut the door and sped home to Pat[riarch] Mallon's room, where we cleaned the Bones. Pat[riarch] Mallon sat on the floor liberally applying carbolic acid. The Skull was fairly clean, having only some flesh inside and a little hair. I showered and hit the hay ... a happy man ..."

Although Jonathan Bush and Society members admitted they have a skull they call Geronimo's during the 1986 meetings in New York, the Society's attorney denies it.
Attorney Endicott P. Davison, attorney for the Skull and Bones Society, denies that the society had Geronimo's skull. He claimed the log book describing the grave robbing was a hoax. Meanwhile, since learning of the robbing of Geronimo's grave, Anderson and Thompson have struggled with frustration to bring Geronimo's remains home. Speaking to Mount Graham runners, Thompson compared the telescopes that scar Mount Graham to the desecration of Geronimo's grave.

The Bush family's involvement in the Skull and Bones Society and the Trilateral Commission, a joint commission of world leaders accused of seeking world domination, is no secret. George W. Bush, in his 1999 campaign autobiography, "A Charge to Keep," speaks of his membership in Skull and Bones. "My senior year I joined Skull and Bones, a secret society, so secret I can't say anything more." Now, there is also a new book exposing the secrets of the Skull and Bones Society. Alexandria Robbins, formerly of the staff of the New Yorker, is author of "Secrets of the Tomb." Robbins, a Yale graduate and award-winning journalist, interviewed more than 100 Bonesmen for the book and includes information on Geronimo. Based on her research, Robbins believes the grave robbing incident took place, the log entry is authentic and the skull belongs to Geronimo.

"Almost 90 years later, that skull still sits in the Tomb. It sits in a glass case and the members still call it Geronimo," Robbins said in an interview with the women's Guerilla News Network.

The Skull and Bones Society was founded by Yale student William H. Russell in the early 1800s. Russell, from a wealthy family, was influenced during his travels to a German secret society. The Society, founded with Alphonso Taft, the future Secretary of War and father of future President William Howard Taft, is considered the most powerful secret society the United States has ever known. New members are selected from the junior class at Yale University and then initiated in the "tomb," a dark windowless crypt in New Haven, Conn. They are given new names, "Knight X" of the Order, and introduced to the artifacts.

These tomb items include Hitler's silverware and dozens of skulls, including those of Geronimo and Pancho Villa. There are coffins, skeletons and innards. Skull and Bones members are threatened with blackmail in order to ensure loyalty. They must tithe the Society and are guaranteed financial security for life. Bonesmen are offered jobs at investment banks and law firms owned by fellow Bonesmen, and granted access to the Society's island on the St. Lawrence River.

Robbins said Bonesmen have been senators, Supreme Court justices and dominate the financial world. At Yale, the Skull and Bones corporate shell, the Russell Trust Association, owns much of the university's real estate and a large portion of the land in Connecticut. While the Skull and Bones Society is now exposed, no action has been taken for the return of the remains of Geronimo.

"The white man destroys the oceans, kills the water and fishes with oil and he contaminates the soil with uranium," Thompson told runners at Mount Graham.

"Indians see the hearts of the tree, beauty of the mountain. It is a living mountain," Thompson said.

"Now, the white man has come and cut the trees on this holy mountain. It is the same way as when they dug up Geronimo's grave and put it in their museum."

The Bush presidents, John Kerry and Homeland Security counsel Ed McNally are all members of the money and power society of Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones, heart of darkness in America

June 01, 2004
by: Brenda Norrell

SAN CARLOS, Ariz. - President George W. Bush, Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry and Homeland Security counsel Ed McNally are all members of the Yale secret society Skull and Bones. So where does that leave America? San Carlos Apache elder Raleigh Thompson said the current darkness in America and the world stems from Skull and Bones, a far-reaching brotherhood of power, which defiled the remains of Geronimo.

Thompson said horrible things are happening in the world today as a result of the defilement of the sacred, including defacing sacred Mount Graham with a complex of telescopes and the unearthing of Geronimo's remains by Prescott Bush. "In tribal traditions, only witchcraft people dig up these bones," Thompson said of the defilement of the grave by President George W. Bush's grandfather Prescott Bush, as recorded in a Skull and Bones log entry provided to San Carlos Apaches.

Thompson said the truth about the war in Iraq is now being exposed, linking the Bush family pressure for a pipeline in the Middle East, the war in Afghanistan and attacks of Sept. 11. Thompson said this dark path was present when the grave of Geronimo was desecrated. Interviewed on the day of the release of the video of the beheading of Nicholas Berg, Thompson said everything is out of control.

Referring to the series of events leading up to today, Thompson said of President Bush, "Now he is in deep trouble."

Thompson said the world's equilibrium becomes imbalanced when there is a violation of the sacred, as evidenced by recent violence and murders on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson. The university has taken the lead in the international consortium responsible for the telescopes on Mount Graham.

"When you destroy sacred places, sacred mountains, these things happen," Thompson said.

Members of the Skull and Bones Society, based at Yale University in Connecticut, have long held power in the United States. Bonesmen have included Presidents Taft and Bush and members of the Supreme Court, CIA and Homeland Security. The men who oversaw the production of the first atomic bomb were members of Skull and Bones, wrote Alexendra Robbins in the book "Secrets of the Tomb."

The group of Bonesmen who oversaw the construction and deployment of the first atomic bomb included Henry Stimson, George L. Harrison, Robert A. Lovett, Averell Harriman and Harvey H. Bundy. An assistant to the secretary of war, John J. McCloy, later became chairman of Chase Bank and president of the World Bank, protested by indigenous people worldwide for exploitation of natural resources and violations of indigenous land rights.

Stimson was in the same law firm as Endicott Peabody Davison, the attorney who met with San Carlos Apache in New York concerning the return of Geronimo's remains.

In "Secrets of the Tomb", Robbins explains Bonesmen financed the Bush family's oil companies and dominate financial institutions such as J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley Dean Winter, and Brown Brothers Harriman

"Through these companies, Skull and Bones provided financial backing to Adolph Hitler because the society then followed a Nazi - and now follows a neo-Nazi - doctrine. At least a dozen Bonesmen have been linked to the Federal Reserve, including the first chairman of the New York Federal Reserve." Skull and Bonesmen control the wealth of the Rockefeller, Carnegie and Ford families, Robbins said.

"There are only 800 living members. Only 15 per year. It's staggering that two of them could be facing off for the presidency and so many of them have achieved positions of prominence."

The following website shows the Skull and Bones members and the company affiliations:

http://www.nndb.com/org/723/000041600/
By Brenda Norrell
The list of Skull and Bones members also shows an association with the Desert Rock power plant, by way of the Blackstone Group. The power plant, which would be the third disease-producing power plant in the Four Corners area, is opposed by local Navajos of the Dooda (NO) Desert Rock.
Tribal politicians, including the Navajo Nation Council and President Joe Shirley, Jr., who receive a large portion of their salaries from the revenues from polluting, destructive industries, have promoted the power plant. Meanwhile, the electric transmission lines to cities pass over the homes of many Navajos who do not have running water or electricity and live with the diseases from pollution from coal mines, power plants and oil and gas wells.
This is the same area where Navajos were used as experiments in uranium mining during the Cold War, leaving enormous cancer clusters in towns like Red Valley and Cove south of Shiprock, NM. In some homes where I went in the 90s, every family member had cancer. Even today, Navajoland has about 1,000 unreclaimed radioactive tailings from these uranium mines and another cancer trail follows the Church Rock spill down the Rio Puero wash, flowing west of Gallup, NM.
Stephen A. Schwarzman, cofounder of Blackstone, is a member of Skull and Bones.
According to Sithe Global's website:
"Sithe Global is affiliated with Blackstone Capital Partners, an affiliate of The Blackstone Group (which owns approximately 80% of the company) and the Reservoir Capital Group (which owns approximately 20% of the company). "

Obama Administration seeks to dismiss Geronimo lawsuit
Yesterday at 9:41am
Government Moves to Dismiss Geronimo Suit
Legal Times

Justice Department lawyers have moved to dismiss claims against the government in a lawsuit over the remains of the legendary Apache warrior Geronimo.

In February, a group of Native Americans claiming to have descended from the 19th century military leader sued the government, as well as Yale University and the Order of the Skull and Bones, in an attempt to retrieve Geronimo's remains. After his death in 1909, Geronimo's body was buried at the Fort Sill United States Army Base in Lawton, Oklahoma. But according to popular lore, members of the Yale secret society broke into his tomb and stole his skull, which it now keeps on display in New Haven.

In their suit, the plaintiffs demanded the government and Yale hand over all of Geronimo's remains, including those buried at Fort Sill, and pay punitive damages. The suit was complicated last month, however, when another group claiming to have descended from Geronimo filed its own complaint, asking that his remains not be removed from the fort. It asked that the government conduct a full genealogical investigation to determine who were Geronimo's rightful heirs.

This week, Justice Department lawyers argued in court papers that the government could not be sued in this instance because it had not waived its right to sovereign immunity. They also attacked the statutory basis of the suit. The plaintiffs based their suit on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990. The law requires government agencies and taxpayer funded institutions to return certain Native American artifacts to tribal descendants.

The government points out that the law only applies to objects that have actually been removed from a burial site. Geronimo's grave has never technically been excavated, they argue, notwithstanding any undergraduate pranks.

The Justice Department's motion would dismiss the claims against the government, not against Yale or the Order of the Skull and Bones.

Urgent plea from Miwoks in California

From Miwoks in California:
Anyone out there who has a HEART and knows what its like to be an Indian who is used to being kicked around and continually ignored by the very officials who are suppose to protect them... PLEASE make your voice heard.... HELP US!!! Show your support for our Tribe by contacting the government officials and make them aware of our situation. If that doesn't work, please forward this information to any and all news people who will take the story.

We are MIWOK people and we have no choice but to make this stand. Enough has been taken from us. Since the local BIA and the California Gambling Control Commission is illegally withholding our monies, we have lost our jobs, and now our home (Tribal Property) to foreclosure. We have continually contacted all officials for help and have again and again had the door slammed in our face. Either they don't have time for us, don't want to hear it, or just plain don't care!

Today,June 17th, 2009, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's are threatening to remove us by force. We have no funds and no where to go. Indymac Bank won't return our calls, nor will their attorneys or representatives.

We are asking you all to "please" contact officials in Washington DC and tell them to quit playing games with our lives... they need to intervene on our behalf, and they need to release our monies and stop allowing outsiders to interfere into our Tribal Affairs... if they ignore you like they do us, continue to forward our information to any and all news channels, radio stations and news papers.

Above all, pray that our ancestors watch over us for we are standing strong to keep their memories alive. The local Bureau (Troy Burdick, Superintendent of the Central California Agency) may think its funny about what he is doing to our Tribe, and he may take away all material things from us, but we are Miwok Indian in blood and he will never take that from us.

Its pretty sad when its another Indian causing such heart ache and suffering, not only to our Tribe but others here in California too!!

PLEASE.... DO WHAT YOU CAN... WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!! We know the property here is lost but we need at least 45 days to relocate. We will not leave without our Tribal Property (governmental documents, etc...)

Thank you all in advance for your consideration in this URGENT matter

Respectfully with many blessings,

This was one of the Obama strikes: The Obama Administration opposed the review of protecting San Francisco Peaks; the Supreme Court ruled against the tribes:

After the Appeals court reversed an earlier decision in favor of protecting San Francisco Peaks, the Supreme Court is now considering it. The Obama administration opposes the review, which could overturn the latest decision and would protect the Peaks.

Supreme Court to consider sacred site case
www.indianz.com

The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to consider Navajo Nation v. U.S. Forest Service at a private conference on Thursday.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the U.S. Forest Service did not violate the religious rights of tribes by allowing the use of reclaimed wastewater in the sacred San Francisco Peaks of Arizona. Tribes are asking the Supreme Court to overturn the decision.

The Obama administration opposes review of the case. Tribal leaders had hoped to settle the dispute before the court considered the petition.

A decision on the case will likely be announced early next week.

FANTINO'S SKYWAY BRIDGE BLOOD BATH TO GET EVEN WITH MOHAWKS – Is martial law here?
MNN. June 13, 2009. Commissioner Julian Fantino of the Ontario Provincial Police has a longstanding personal grudge against the Mohawks of Tyendinaga. He wanted to show his power and what he'll do to anybody who stands up to fascism. The OPP struck suddenly early Thursday morning on June 11th. No news coverage. No pictures. It was calculated to splatter blood everywhere to send a message on how he will treat Mohawks, Indigenous or anyone who wants to demonstrate peacefully. The premeditated plan was to hurt people, draw blood and wash it down quickly. What sharp deadly instruments did they use to draw so much blood? Where have they hidden them?
Dissent has been outlawed in Ontario. They don't want a public inquiry. They want the OPP to be exonerated. The cops came from outside the area so the locals could not recognize them. They could be special forces or commandos trained to maim and inflict injuries that terrorize the victims. This is worse than being tasered or beaten by a baton. Their orders came from some outside agency untraceable to politicians or Parliamentary scrutiny. Did it come from the Pentagon or Camp Petawawa or Fort Drum in NYS? Are elite soldiers using us to train on how to strike quickly and leave without a trace?
The Ipperwash inquiry established the principle that politicians cannot order such attacks. An unsigned letter from the Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs or a press communiqué from the Tyendinaga Council or a letter from the Akwesasne Council are political. Using them as official authorization is illegal. The police can only enforce the law, not to push the orders of a politician.
The Mohawks were passing out information to support our people at Akwesasne who don't want gun toting agents in our communities. They were standing side by side with the police at the Skyway Bridge.
The police had blockades at both ends of the Skyway Bridge. The squad knew we had no weapons. Chief Tim Thompson of Akwesasne went to Ottawa to speak on Parliament Hill. Minister of Indian Affairs Chuck Strahl, NDP leader Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe of the Bloc Quebecois were there.
Jim Potts wrote a report on how to deal with us called, Nonce: Policing and Aboriginal Occupations and Protests, 2005. We are viewed as criminals for questioning their authority and jurisdiction.
The key ingredient is for the police and other military organizations to stand back at first. Different people in the community are recruited to be liaisons with the police and military, and to keep tabs on the people for them. They articulate the cops' position of wanting everybody to tow the line and walk in lock step with the totalitarian regime that is being set up. Blame and suspicion are cast on community members.
It's a how to on how cops can brutalize people and not be prosecuted. It's to stop people from exercising their legal rights to peaceful demonstrations, which is a basic right in a democracy.
Apparently the government is worried that our greater well-being and higher education will generate a greater level of sensitivity that the state wants to keep in check. More sophisticated Indigenous can articulate our grievances. The government and police are looking for other ways to suppress us. Brute force has become a main option.
At Tyendinaga the armed para-military officers arrived en masse by the hundreds. They carried out a military style "shock and awe" attack against unarmed civilians. No questions asked and no qualms about inflicting bodily harm.
Military goons sent in to beat us up is illegal. Has secret legislation been passed to do this? Was this a military decision because the government has designated us as insurgents and terrorists? This operation was meant to eliminate dissent as part of martial law. People will not be allowed to protect themselves in the new world order.
According to the Smart Borders agenda and other agreements under NorthCom, the Canadian police and military are controlled by the Pentagon. Is that why Liberal Party leader Michael Ignatieff is afraid to speak? Can he or anybody be designated as an insurgent for not going along with the program? The message is that when the roundup is done, those who question the Prime Ministers Office could be taken away in the paddy wagon.
In 1997 the New York State Troopers wanted blood at Onondaga. They attacked over 100 people during a tobacco ceremony. The state searched for those troopers who hate Indians so much that they volunteered to smash heads, including women, children and even a baby in a stroller. 12 years later we refuse to take money to settle. We want the trial of the NYS troopers and the NYS handpicked pseudo Confederacy Chiefs who sent them in.
How many OPP or soldiers were questioned as to their level of anger and innate prejudice against Indigenous? Were they offered extra money as mercenaries to smash our heads or just because they hate us? Did Fantino find them? Or were they soldiers who came to search and destroy?
Some kind of law suit should be taken against this brutality. If no one holds them accountable, they will start smelling blood. They will only be satisfied when they see more. A handpicked hired gun was sent in to murder Dudley George at Ipperwash in 1995. Now, like vampires they want to drink Mohawk blood so they can sprout wings and terrorize everybody. Watch out! The police state has arrived. [See photos of attack http://letstalknativepride.blogspot.com/]

ARE AKWESASNE MOHAWKS BEING SET UP FOR AN INVASION? OPP attack Tyendinaga supporters
MNN. June 15, 2009. It was one year since two grandmothers were brutally attacked by CBSA border agents at Akwesasne. One was almost killed by a trauma induced heart attack. We are trying to anticipate the strategy of the colonists.
These corporatist forces recently attacked our brothers in the Amazon rainforest. Helicopters flew overhead and shot and bombed them, massacring over a hundred unarmed untouched natives who still live in the rainforest, cut off from modern life, as their ancestors always did. With only spears for weapons they weren't a threat. Their bodies were taken away and the blood was quickly cleaned up.
Here, the plan is to create situations where Mohawks are falsely seen as unruly or as terrorists. Prime Minister Stephen Harper wants to declare he has no choice but take control of our "reserves", put us under third party management, expropriate our communities and hand them over to his corporate backers. He wants to hand over multi billion dollars of real estate to them.
Akwesasne would be turned over to outsiders for resorts, casinos, condos and creating a playground for the elite. Cornwall Island would become part of a NAFTA super highway complex. We would be removed. An American would be able to come into Canada without having to pass through a border checkpoint. Kahnawake would become part of Montreal. Six Nations would become part of surrounding municipalities. Harper has to do this before he gets kicked out of office.
This morning at 6:45 am the OPP came to the Skyway Bridge which the Mohawks of Tyendinaga had never closed down. They slowed down traffic giving out information to support the Mohawks of Akwesasne. The OPP and the band council Mohawk Police shut it down and kept the public off the bridge. A squad of 150 to 200 cruisers and SUVs came in and practically massacred our people. There was blood everywhere, which was quickly mopped by the OPP, using fire hoses to immediately wash down any evidence. 14 were hurt.
The Shiprider Agreement was signed by Canada and US on May 26, 2009 to escalate the North American Union and martial law. All law enforcement, intelligence, military and border patrol come under the Pentagon. RCMP and armed US Coast Guards can enter each others waterway, in particular, the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River, which is Haudenosaunee Territory. Obviously, Harper without Parliamentary approval has relinquished sovereignty over the colony of Canada. These executive decisions never went through Parliament or Congress because they say it's to pursue terrorists and criminals.
NORAD [North American Air Defense] covers air space. Shiprider covers the naval aspect. Land integration is not yet signed.
The combined forces could come in to attack the Mohawks, with the excuse that they are pursuing terrorists. The Nazi in WW II used this same tactic. German soldiers dressed as Polish soldiers blew up railroads in Germany. This justified the Germans attacking Poland. US fascists are doing the same thing.
On June 1, 2009, the Canadian border guards were supposed to start carrying guns. They knew well in advance that the Mohawks would resist. US and Canada blocked the bridges onto the Cornwall Island portion of Akwesasne. We have no choice but to travel by our boats to take our kids to school, go to work and do normal family activities. It's only a matter of time before the coast guard will start arresting and taking us to holding facilities nearby. No trial. No habeas corpus. No legal rights just like Guantano. It's martial law because the military is involved.
What threat will the US and Canada make as an excuse to launch this invasion? The US military choppers have been flying over the MNN office and followed a Mohawk woman to Cornwall courthouse yesterday.
NorthCom coordinates this under US Homeland Security at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. The US took illegal jurisdiction of Great Turtle Island to launch military domination of the world. Canada is central because of resources like ore, oil, uranium, raw materials and water.
Canada has accepted US immigration, anti-terrorist laws, police state, racist policies, ethnic profiling and arbitrary arrests of anti-war activists.
Canada's Public Safety is part of US Homeland Security. All civilian police, judicial and intelligence structures, militarization of government bodies and agencies are integrated under the Pentagon. US military bases can be built in Canada.
Big Brother Data Bank is operated by Homeland Security, FBI and CIA. They have security, confidential information, tax and medical records, credit card, banking, educational, employment data, travel, internet, email, phone and fax info.
Code Red Alerts from a Canadian municipality could bring in US troops or special forces. The flu panemic has raised the alert level, although there appears to be few victims. CBC stated the natives in the north who don't travel are dying of this pandemic. Law enforcement and military are being set up to intervene.
Canadian companies support the US initiative. They want lucrative multi million dollar contracts for war reconstruction. Most Canadian weapons producers are affiliates of US defense conglomerates. Big contracts are expected by General Dynamics, Bell Helicoptor Textron, General Motors Defense, CAE, Bombardier, SNC Lavalin Group and others.
The goal of war economies such as Canada, US and Mexico is complete integration in trade, finance and investment, under the control of US corporatist war lords.
Harper desperately needs to push us out of the way while he has power. He wants his multinational supporters to rape our land. The Jay Treaty 1794 cannot be rescinded unless there is a terrorist threat. They created a myth. For some reason a small group of women, children and grandmothers are the emergency! The CBSA border guards are so scared they even interrogated an 18-month baby as a terrorist threat!

Native American Ceremony and News Conference

to address Federal Court Hearing on Sacred Site Mt. Tenabo

Where: The James R. Browning Courthouse

95 7TH Street, San Francisco

When: Wednesday, June 10

Opening Prayer and Song 7:30 AM

News Conference 8:15 AM

On June 10, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in South Fork Band Council et al. vs. United States Department of the Interior et al., and Barrick Cortez, Inc. on whether Barrick will be allows to continue to mine for gold at the Western Shoshone sacred site Mt. Tenabo.

On November 8 2008, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management approved the construction of a massive open pit cyanide heap leach gold mine on the face of well-known spiritual area, Mt. Tenabo. The Federal Court in Reno has denied a preliminary injunction that would have stopped mining operations at Mt. Tenabo. South Fork Band Council of Western Shoshone of Nevada, Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada, Timbisha

Shoshone Tribe, Western Shoshone Defense Project, and Great Basin Resource Watch are seeking to overturn the Reno court ruling to stop further destruction of Mt. Tenabo by Barrick Gold Corporation.

According to the Western Shoshone, Barrick's gold mining operation will cause "Spiritual Genocide" and cause permanent destruction of Western Shoshone cultural and spiritual practices because this area is a central site for their religious practices and creation stories. This area is visited for prayer ceremonies, gathering of sacred plants, fasting, and vision quests, among other religious practices, and is akin to a cathedral.

The peaceful and respectful ceremony will open with native drumming, song, and prayer. Western Shoshone elders will speak at 8:15 AM; after which the event will close.

Western Shoshone Elder Carrie Dann is seen here before Mt. Tenabo in the distance. Will she and her community ever be able to practice their religion here again? For a country based on principles of religious freedom, this question should never arise.

"Denabo (correct spelling) has significant meaning for Western Shoshone, it means the writing on the rock walls of the mountain (White Cliffs) put there by our Creator. We go to pray to our Creator to give us strength to keep us going. How can we pray to our creator when the place in being blown up? Water at Mt. Tenabo must be protected to sustain life and peace on Mother Earth. Water is sacred. Water is life." - Joyce McDade, Western Shoshone Grandmother.

"When God makes a covenant to provide for human beings, the covenant always includes the land. Our well-being as a species is conditioned upon our capacity to love and care for the land. Native American communities and their spiritual practices have enlightened our way to this love and care."– John Auer, Reverend First United Methodist Church, Reno NV.

"The mining industry needs to recognize that there are some places where it is not appropriate to mine. I think that people across the U.S. - and around the world – are appalled by the destruction of a sacred site just so Barrick, a multi-national corporation, can make more money. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has put the this Canadian company's economic interests over the rights of the Western Shoshone who have lived sustainably on these lands for thousands of years. The situation at Mt. Tenabo makes clear the need for reform of the U.S. 1872 Mining Law." - John Hadder, Great Basin Resource Watch

The mine known as the Cortez Hills Expansion Project would:

Disturb 6,792 acres of land, including cyanide heap leach and waste rock on Mt. Tenabo
Blast the new Cortez Hills mine pit into Mt. Tenabo approximately 8,900 feet in length, 6,400 feet in width to a depth of over 2,000 feet
Construct an underground mine tunneling almost a mile into Mt. Tenabo
Pump 16.5 billion gallons of groundwater from Mt. Tenabo to keep the pit dry for mining
This pumping would drop in the water table 1,600 feet – essentially dewatering Mt. Tenabo
The government predicts that at least 15 springs/seeps and one perennial stream may go completely dry due to Barrick's pumping. These sacred waters have immense spiritual significance to many Western Shoshone.

This destruction of Native American spiritual areas must stop now.

ARE TWO NWO CAMPS FIGHTING FOR WORLD DOMINATION? Europeans v. USA

MNN. June 5 2009. Why are armed US and Canadian forces holding the Mohawks hostage? We refuse to let the Canada Border Services agents CBSA carry guns in the middle of our community.

Like anybody else, members of the Mohawk Nation can speculate about events surrounding us. Europe and the US are both running out of resources. Their economies are crashing. They have to steal what they need from others around the world. The economic meltdown of the US was caused by the European international banks pulling the plug on them. Europe has to destroy the US to take over the world and vice versa.

The Western Hemisphere is all Indigenous. The Europeans have always been fighting over it. For a long time France infiltrated Canada through Quebec. During the 1960s French teachers came to Quebec to get involved with the youth. They started the movement to separate Quebec from Canada. In 1967 French President Charles deGaulle visited Quebec and yelled, "Vive, Quebec libre!" to give momentum to separatism.

Quebec Premier Jean Charest made a statement recently that North America belongs to the French. He's basing it on the Louisiana Purchase by the US from France in 1803 which is 23% of the US. It connected southern US with Quebec. France tried to surround the 13 colonies along the east coast. Spain planned to control the territory west of the Mississippi River. Recently Mexican Americans claimed they were the indigenous people of the US. The Iroquois reminded our brothers and sisters that the territory east of the Mississippi is ours.

US said in the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 that the Western Hemisphere is their sphere of influence and will resist European intrusions. They never mentioned they're all immigrants to Great Turtle Island and beyond.

Certain parties from Germany put out a phony article about the Mohawk issue at Akwesasne, purportedly put out by MNN. All articles by MNN can be verified at www.mohawknationnews.com

What is the connection at Harvard between US President Obama and Liberal Party of Canada leader, Michael Ignatieff? Are they part of the European camp? Ignatieff is the son of white Russian nobility whose father was a Canadian diplomat at the UN Security Council Committee on Palestine. In WW II many of the white Russians had their own battalions in the German army because they opposed the Bolsheviks.

Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, appears to be with the US camp. The Europeans would like to see an election soon to put their nominee, Michael Ignatieff, in as Prime Minister of Canada.

The Europeans have always been infiltrating Canadian government, business and finance as part of ongoing colonialism. The majority of the Canadian military is now mainly in Quebec due to the bilingual policy under former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. The only people rising up in the ranks are French speakers.

The Germans are now attacking former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, a conservative, who brought in the free trade deal. He's probably with the US camp. Germans wanted to set up a factory to make armaments in Nova Scotia. He was paid but didn't do it. The Europeans would need to make heavy artillery here to make it easier to move the military and equipment anywhere they're needed.

On May 31 there was a crash of an Air France flight in the Atlantic Ocean. It had about a dozen Thyssen Krupp of Germany and Michelin of France executives aboard. A deal was made for steel production at 11 installations in Brazil. The Germans have been in South America, particularly in Brazil, since the 1800s. Many Nazis fled to South America after WW II.

Is the Canada/US border going to be guarded by soldiers posing as CBSA? Are we in the way of some big plans? We have a right to defend ourselves and will remain neutral in the conflict between these competing interests. We will remain steadfast in not having guns at the border.

Mohawk communities are strategically located in southern Quebec and southern Ontario. The Europeans may want them for army bases to protect the border should the US invade Canada. US Fort Drum Army Base south of Akwesane would need to come through Awesasne and Kahnawake to take over these populous areas of Canada. Kanehsatake is located where the Ottawa River flows into the St. Lawrence. Tyendinaga is surrounded by numerous Canadian army installations. Six Nations is west of Toronto. Our communities are strategically located in the way of a US invasion. If the US invades Canada, they would want to use our communities to set up their bases.

As the people who follow the philosophy of the Kaianereh'ko:wa, Great Law of Peace, we can resolve this matter peacefully between these parties.

In the meantime the US camp wants us to stop guns at the border. They aren't worried about us. They just don't want guns in the hands of Euro influenced CBSA guards to be aimed at them.

These reflections are like throwing an onion into the pot for the flavor!

AKWESASNE: CANADA FORCIBLY HOLDING CIVILIANS A WAR CRIME

MNN. June 5, 2009. Canada continues to prepare and initiate aggression against the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne in violation of international treaties, agreements and assurances. Canada is carrying out ill treatment of civilian residents on the illegally occupied territory of the Haudenosaunee.

No matter where the Canada-US border is relocated, it is still on Onwehonwe land. The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority is making money out of illegally leasing out our land for the border facility. According to the Jay Treaty 1794 between the U.S. and Britain, the border is meant for the colonists. Not us. Some suggest it be relocated somewhere in Europe. If the colonists block the bridges to our community every time they want to scare or control us, is it time to build our own?

Mohawks are being held hostage on Cornwall Island by Canada and the U.S. until we agree to let the gun toting border guards roam around the middle of Akwesasne. The Minister of Public Safety won't talk to us. Why? In the meantime boats and barges are shuffling kids, food and other necessities to us.

THE TWO ROW WAMPUM AGREEMENT

The basis of the relationship between us and the colonists is the Kaianereh'ko:wa, the Great Law, which embodies the Two Row Wampum Agreement. U.S. President George Washington agreed to the principle that our canoe and their sailing vessel are to travel side by side. Each contains our people, language, form of government, laws, culture, traditions and ceremonies. In our canoe are all the lands and resources of Great Turtle Island that the natural world has vested in us. Accordingly we can only deal with the U.S. President or the Queen on any issue between our nations.

These principles were implemented in the Treaty of Canadaigua 1794, Article VII. There can be no interference with our birthright to travel and conduct commerce anywhere in the Western Hemisphere.

The women are the progenitors of the soil of Great Turtle Island, the caretakers of the land, water and air.

In 2003 a grandmother was going through the Cornwall Island checkpoint in the Indian lane. She was waved through. It was recorded on the CBSA video. Later she was charged with running the border and arrested. She put forward the following notice to the Queen for a dismissal of the bogus charge:

"1.Stop breaching the peace. You are inflicting genocide upon us and our future posterity.

2. Our relations are based on equality and mutual respect as affirmed by the Kaianereh'ko:wa, our constitution. Our relations with the colonists is defined by the Guswentah, the Two Row Wampum, also known as the Covenant Chain.

3. We are the trustees of all of our land for the future generations of our People, including the part upon which your corporations and subjects are squatting.

4. Your colonial successor states and corporations have carried out rape, pillage and pollution. With your protection the squatters are stealing our resources and poisoning our land, water and air almost beyond repair. They will soon kill themselves and injure our future generations.

5.Your justice system protects the squatters to keep the stolen property. It incriminates us or kills us to stop us from making our demands for restitution and protection from the crimes of your agents. To negotiate you must come to our table and talk to us. Your one-sided decisions are not legal.
The demand is that:

6. You recognize that all your transactions as null and void, and that you must cease your illegal operations against us immediately.

7. You respect our inherent right to our land; and that our children will be born free from your bondage.

8. You deal with us, the true Ongwehonwe, on a nation-to-nation basis and stop using your unlawfully imposed tribal and band councils.

9. You respect the "rule of law" that comes from Creation. Foreigners such as you and your corporate entities respect the Indigenous law of our land. You cannot legislate over or judge us.

"For 500 years we have resisted your brutal efforts to eliminate us and impose your unnatural institutions on us. Your claims to jurisdiction over us, our land and resources are delusional. We find you guilty of: genocide; violations of our freedom and our inherent right to self-determination; theft of our lands and resources; and destruction of our environment. Your subjects and corporations are inflicting ruthless violence on us.

"You are hereby ordered to relinquish all your stolen money, trusts, lands, rights and possessions that were made or stolen from us and our lands. You must disband all your foreign corporations and all foreign laws. We shall return to the original legal nation-to-nation relationship between us, the land owners, and you, our visitors. Your money was created from exploiting us, our land and our resources. Restitution must be made to the Indigenous people of Great Turtle Island."

Canada and the US are bound by international treaties on the laws of aggression. Last week UN observers came. They made a report. Now it's time for the Security Council to resolve this issue. The Mohawks of Akwesasne need protection from the US, Canada and anyone else who wants to use us or take advantage us. We don't want a platoon of armed guards in the middle our neighborhood. The UN must stop them. These armed belligerents stationed around us – the NYS Police, Cornwall City Police and whoever else is behind them - must be removed immediately.

9th CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS TO HEAR APPEAL TO STOP MINING EXPANSION ON MT. TENABO

By Lisa J. Wolf, Correspondent

June 6, 2009

On Wednesday, June 10th, the federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco will hear oral arguments in the case of South Fork Band Council et al. vs. United States Department of the Interior et al., and Barrick Gold Corporation, on whether Barrick will be allowed to construct and operate a massive open pit gold mine on Mt. Tenabo, culturally and spiritually significant to Western Shoshone.

A Native American Ceremony with Opening Prayer and Song beginning at 7:30 a.m. and news conference at 8 a.m. will precede the Hearing at 95 7th Street in the James R. Browning Courthouse in San Francisco.

According to the government documents, the Mine, known as the Cortez Hills Project, will disturb 6,792 acres of land, construct a large cyanide heap leach processing facility, dump over 1.5 billion tons of mine waste on Mt. Tenabo, blast a new mine pit into Mt. Tenabo approximately 8,900 feet in length, 6,400 feet in width, and to a depth of over 2,000 feet, construct an underground mine tunneling almost a mile into Mt. Tenabo, pump over 16.5 billion gallons of groundwater from Mt. Tenabo to keep the pit dry for mining which could lower the water table 1,600 feet, and is predicted to result in the complete elimination or substantial loss of water in at least 15 springs/seeps and one perennial stream due to Barrick's pumping.

Western Shoshone Grandmother Joyce McDade related that "Denabo (correct spelling) has significant meaning for Western Shoshone: it means the writing on the rock walls of the mountain (White Cliffs) put there by our Creator. We go to pray to our Creator to give us strength to keep us going. How can we pray to our Creator when the place in being blown up? Water at Mt. Denabo must be protected to sustain life and peace on Mother Earth. Water is sacred. Water is life"

On November 8 2008, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management approved the construction of the gold mine on Mt. Tenabo and the Federal District Court in Reno denied a preliminary injunction that would have stopped mining operations at Mt. Tenabo in January. The plaintiffs, South Fork Band Council of Western Shoshone of Nevada, Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada, Timbisha Shoshone Tribe, Western Shoshone Defense Project, and Great Basin Resource Watch hope to overturn the Reno court ruling.

John Hadder of Great Basin Mine Watch said, "The mining industry needs to recognize that there are some places where it is not appropriate to mine. I think that people across the U.S., and around the world, are appalled by the destruction of a sacred site just so Barrick, a multi-national corporation, can make more money. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has put this Canadian company's economic interests over the rights of the Western Shoshone who have lived sustainably on these lands for thousands of years. The situation at Mt. Tenabo makes clear the need for reform of the U.S. 1872 Mining Law."

Hadder said, "The hearing will last 30 minutes. Our attorney, Roger Flynn, will get 15 minutes for our case and the U.S. government/Barrick will get 15 minutes. Then we wait."

Flynn, speaking to the Sentinel June 6, 2009 said, "In a case of this importance and based on the urgency of the situation on the ground the Ninth Circuit should rule in a matter of days or weeks, not months."

Flynn said hundreds of pages of briefing and thousands of pages of documents have been submitted to the court. "The hearing on Wednesday the 10th is on the appeal of the district court's decision, asking the 9th Circuit to issue a preliminary injunction." Flynn noted that "because the legal issues are so important, the 9th Circuit reviews the legal issues de novo" meaning "they're not beholden to the lower court's view of the law."

"An injunction would stop the mine while the case goes back to the district court in Reno. A final decision on the merits could take another year or two," said Flynn. "The Ninth Circuit ruling will be critical on the legal issue of whether the BLM has the authority to deny such a destructive mining project in such an important place," continued Flynn.

Police Violently Attack Peaceful Indigenous Blockade in the Peruvian Amazon

Four Confirmed Dead and 18 Injured in a Pre-Dawn Attack on Peaceful Demonstrators

Bagua, Peru (June 5, 2009) - At approximately 5 am this morning, the Peruvian military police staged a violent raid on a group of indigenous people at a peaceful blockade on a road outside of Bagua, in a remote area of northern Peruvian Amazon. Several thousand Awajun and Wambis indigenous peoples were forcibly dispersed by tear gas and real bullets, among them are confirmed reports of at least 18 injured and four people confirmed dead, although the number of dead is likely to be several times higher.

At 2am police began to approach the demonstrators as they were sleeping along the Fernando Belaúnde Terry road. Demonstrators refused to move from the roadblock as helicopters dropped teargas bombs from overhead. Eyewitnesses report that police attacked from both sides firing real bullets into the crowd as people fled into the hills. As the unarmed demonstrators were killed and injured some wrestled the Police and took away their guns and fought back in self-defense resulting in deaths of several Police officers.

In local radio reports, the chief of Police claimed that the indigenous demonstrators were armed with guns necessitating the use of bullets for dispersal. This claim is refuted by dozens of local eyewitnesses including local journalists. Marijke Deleu, a Belgium environmentalist from the local conservation organization reported from the scene that the Amazonian demonstrators have been entirely peaceful and only bear traditional spears and in no way provoked any violence.
The Garcia Government yesterday accused the indigenous movement of turning violent and issued an order for the police to begin forcibly removing indigenous demonstrations that have paralyzed the Amazon region of Peru for nearly two months.

Gregor MacLennan of Amazon Watch who is currently in Peru stated: "It is outrageous and absolutely untrue that indigenous peoples provoked violence. Rather, they are engaged in peaceful and non-violent civil disobedience in the tradition of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi. It has been the Peruvian Government forces who have provoked violence against peaceful people who are trying to protect their forests, their sacred lands from shortsighted pollution and industrial development. They are sacrificing a lot to safeguard the Amazon for future generations and for all Peruvians."
Indigenous peoples have vowed to continue protests until the Peruvian Congress revokes the "free trade" decrees issued by President Garcia under special powers granted by Congress in the context of the Free Trade=2 0Agreement with the United States.

In the past two weeks, the constitutional committee of Congress has ruled that legislative decree 994 and 1090 were unconstitutional. The Peruvian Congress was scheduled to debate the revocation of decree 1090 again yesterday, however, Garcia's political party once again prevented the debate. The government Ombudsman office has filed a demand with the constitutional tribunal on the unconstitutionality of decree 1064, which affects the land rights laws in Peru.

The protests have provoked national debate about government policies in the Amazon that ignore indigenous peoples and encourage large-scale extractive industries and the privatization of Amazonian lands. Indigenous peoples claim that new laws undermine their rights and open up their ancestral lands to private companies for mining, logging, plantations and oil drilling.

A coalition of human rights and environmental organizations are urging the Garcia Government to step down and cease violent confrontations by the military and calling for solidarity demonstrations at Peruvian Embassies around the world.

AIDESEP, the national indigenous organization of Peru has called for a nationwide general strike starting June 11th.

Relatives,

Solidarity action in support of our indigenous relatives of the Peruvian Amazon who are resisting presidential decrees which expropriate the natural resources of their territories, will continue on Monday June 8, 2009 in coast to coast continental protests and actions of solidarity.

Background: Mp3 Interview with Tupac Enrique Acosta

The current conflict in the Amazon resulted in a number of casualties in the last three days and accelerated the crisis of the US-Peru Free Trade Agreement as an instrument of collusion in the genocide of the Indigenous Peoples.

A war crimes tribunal, a global climate justice tribunal, and all venues of justice to bring the systematic pogroms of terracide and genocide are called to address the crisis, but immediate action on the ground is our first step.

In solidarity with the struggle of our Indigenous Peoples of the Peruvian Amazon, and in response to the call for indigenous solidarity from the IV Continental Indigenous Summit of Abya Yala, we shall organize peaceful coordinated continental actions of protest for Monday June 8th in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA.

Please relay to all Nations and Organizations of Indigenous Peoples of Abya Yala North, along with social justice networks to realize coordination in order to take immediate direct actions of peaceful protest in front of the Peruvian Embassy in Washington, DC and the Peruvian Consulate General in Los Angeles, California on Monday June 8th.

We are shocked by the news received from Peru where Indigenous peoples in the Amazon region are being killed for defending their rights.
".... there has been a genocide, an action by the armed forces of Peru, by order of their superiors against the Indigenous peoples who have protested for more than 50 days against unconstitutional legislative decrees.
At this time, there are 20 dead, following shooting by an helicopter against the population of Bagua."

We appeal to UN leaders and the International community to intervene and voice their concern.

We are uniting with the artist community led by actress Q'orianka Kilcher and other Indigenous leaders and organizations in voicing our concern against the terrible action of the Peruvian government.

We are on alert, we are supporting our brothers and sisters in Peru.

UPDATE 1-At least 20 dead in Peru clash over Amazon resources
Fri Jun 5, 2009 2:44pm EDT
(Recasts, updates death toll)

By Terry Wad e and Marco Aquin o

LIMA, June 5 (Reuters) - At least 20 people died and 50 were injured on Friday in clashes between Peruvian police and Amazon tribes opposed to foreign companies opening oil wells and mines in the rainforest.

Indigenous leaders accused police of shooting at hundreds of protesters from helicopters to end a road block on a remote jungle highway 870 miles (1,400 km) from Lima, the capital.

Police said the protesters fired first, but the tribesmen denied having guns and said they only bore their traditional spears.

Tribal leaders said a dozen protesters were killed, while the interior ministry said eight officers died in protests over the government's push to open up Peru to foreign investment. It was the first round of severe violence since demonstrations started in April.

"There are 12 dead ... from bullets shot from helicopters," indigenous leader Alberto Pizango told reporters in Lima.

"I hold the government of President Alan Garcia responsible for ordering this genocide," he said as the government issued a warrant for his arrest for encouraging the protests.

Thousands of Amazon natives, demanding more control over natural resources, have blocked roads and waterways off-and-on in a bid to force the government to revoke a series of investment laws passed last year and to revise concessions granted to foreign energy companies.

Garcia, whose approval ratings are at 30 percent, blamed protesters for provoking violence and said it was time to lift the blockades of roads, rivers and energy installations.

Argentina's Pluspetrol, which had already curtailed most work at its lot 1AB in northern Peru, said it had halted production. It normally pumps about a fifth of Peru's total oil output. In April, lot 1AB produced about 16,770 barrels a day.

"It appears that this is being done to generate disorder for electoral reasons," Garcia said.

Garcia's allies have at times linked the protests to populist opposition leader Ollanta Humala, who spooked investors when he nearly won the 2006 presidential race and is expected to run again in 2011.

Humala, who enjoys support among the rural poor, said Garcia's APRA party made a gross error on Thursday, when it blocked a motion in Congress to open debate on a law that tribal leaders want to revise or overturn.

Some of the controversial laws encouraging foreign investment in the Amazon were passed last year as Garcia moved to bring Peru's regulatory framework into compliance with a free-trade agreement with the United States.

"The government has decided to solve this social, economic and political problem not in Congress, where it should be solved, but on the battlefield," Humala said at a news conference. (Additional reporting by Dana Ford, editing by Anthony Boadle)

The economic crises has hit at IEN!
We need your help to ensure that the work continues.

Through our program work and campaigns the Indigenous Environmental Network ~ IEN, strives to empower indigenous communities; to build community leadership, capacity and strength to protect and maintain the health of communities and Native Nations!

As we all know, these are tough economic times and too many non-profit organizations and social and environmental justice organizations are being forced to downsize or shut their doors just when they are needed the most. However, this is also a time of unprecedented opportunity for change. IEN is energized by the possibilities and inspired as always by the strength and beauty of our communities, who continue to affect positive change and move forward with courage and determination in the face of tremendous obstacles. They need our support!

IEN and our allies continue to fight the good fight and make a difference: we need your help to maintain our momentum and push forward: Already within the first 5 months of this year we have made great inroads and achieved key victories:

January 2009: Filed suit in Utah federal district court against approval of an oil shale/tar sands development that would have tapped a depleting source of water and contributed to the process of further releases of greenhouse gas emissions causing climate change.
February 2009: Brought over 120 Native students for a convergence of 11,000 students and youth to Power Shift 09 in Washington, DC, calling upon policy makers for clean, renewable energy and green jobs.

February 2009: IEN and First Nations representatives appeared on APTN~ Aboriginal Television Network of Canada's show – Contact. Tens of Thousands of viewers learn about the impacts the Alberta Tar Sands is having on First Nations peoples and the environment – the Tar Sands are being called the most destructive energy project on earth. Click here to watch video.
February 2009: IEN and partners submitted a Policy Paper to the Obama Administration on renewable and clean energy potential in Indian Country and got a listening ear. Click here to read.
February 2009: Part of the Obama2Canada Campaign urging President Obama not to include Tar Sands resources within the U.S. energy policy.
March 2009: Helped stop $50 billon dollars for more nuclear power from being included in the economic recovery package. Yucca Mountain, sacred lands of the Western Shoshone People, was taken off the table as the waste repository for the entire U.S.
With your help IEN will keep our doors open and phones on: We will continue to assist indigenous communities fighting to protect their homelands, culture, health, economies, and environment for the benefit of not only our children but for all future generations.

The IEN online newsletter readership has grown to over 4,000 strong in just one year. If each of us give $5, we will raise $20,000 ~ $10 each and we will raise $40,000~ and $20 each will raise a whopping $80,000, which would support our energy and climate program for the next year!

Thank you!

YES, IROQUOIS DIPLOMACY

MNN. June 3, 2009. Canada has always known that we were against putting guns in the hands of the border guards in the middle of our community. The US and Canada have abandoned their border checkpoints at Cornwall Island in the St. Lawrence River. The New York State Police and Cornwall City Police have closed down the bridges. We can't easily get on or off the island or go about our normal lives. In fact we are imprisoned.

Canada created propaganda against us to provoke a confrontation and then an assault. Then the guns were to be put into the middle of our community. We think other indigenous communities might be next. Prime Minister Harper just announced a policy that he was going to generously fund those Indigenous who cooperate with resource development and extraction. The rest of us will just have to sink or swim.

We are being isolated on the island. Our trade and commerce with each other is being deliberately crushed. This is having a dire impact on our ability to feed our families.

About $100 million worth of construction is planned around Cornwall and on the island for a humongous international commercial transport depot. We would never approve this.

Respondents around us think that the customs facility should be moved off Cornwall Island. Others think a joint Canada-U.S. customs facility should be built on the south side. People on the US side like to have guns to control and scare people. Canadians generally don't the same necessity for them. Those CBSA guards who are being given guns have made it clear that they don't like us. They are dangerous.

Both the US and Canada have set up tribal and band councils in our communities. In this case these councils have turned out to be loyal to us. Canada would like to bull doze an agreement with them. They refuse to sign any agreement because they know how it will hurt us and our families. This issue has brought everybody together.

We are standing together against our oppressors. Their idea of cooperation is to co-opt our so-called leaders. When Champlain first met us, he shot our Royaner and Otiyaner without any questions asked. In 2009 these bullets never disconnected us from our land.

The Two Row Wampum agreement is being violated. There are two paths that shall never cross. In any negotiation the colonists would have to be truthful and honorable with us.

Canada's battleship diplomacy is intimidation with the threat of military deployment. They have put an embargo on us to starve us out and make us surrender. This approach will not lead to a lasting settlement. Canada wrongly thinks they can only use force and threats. After 500 years we've never violated who we are. They don't want to sit down with us. They are afraid to see our full valid legal position that we never surrendered our sovereignty or identity on Great Turtle Island.

Armed force is building up and to make us give in. Slimy Canada is provoking the stalemate on behalf of their international bankster bosses. Their hired public relations guns are creating the myth that we are dangerous. Racial taunts, assaults and interrogation of our youth, some as young as 18 months old by the guards, have escalated.

We are a communal people and have no leaders. We have to consult each other and everyone. Secret agreements are forbidden and cannot be supported by us. When we are threatened, there can be no negotiation. The British knew this. This was the blueprint for the Royal Proclamation of 1763 and all treaties on Great Turtle Island.

We never jump into negotiations. We always went for a long lasting agreement which would stand for hundreds of years. We made sure both sides understood each others position. Sometimes we said nothing for weeks or months at a time. Then we talk. Otherwise negotiations are flawed.

Every time these invaders came to us, they had guns or something to take our lives. In Akwesasne, there is nothing to negotiate. To put the guns to our heads or not to put the guns to our heads, is the question before the colonists. Threats of force are being hurled to make us give up freedom and our land in order to stop them from harassing or killing us.

Our neighbors agree with us. The US and Canada created this demilitarized zone that we are caught in. They can open it or keep it closed. The guns issue is a cover. Canada's institutions and para military organizations have been infiltrated. Canada wants to cut the Mohawk Nation down to size because we are standing up against the US takeover.

Our question is when will the colonists become human beings? If you can't talk fairly with us, you should immediately return everything you took from us? You should take your guns, leave us alone and stop trying to be like violent Americans?
