'No More Torture' events, Flagstaff, Nov. 4 -- 16, 2008

The Flagstaff New Day Peace Center (non-profit) and the NAU Peace and Justice group have scheduled events from Nov. 4th through Nov. 16th entitled "No More Torture - Uphold Human Rights" - Southwest Weeks of Witness.

These events focus on raising awareness about torture, the violation of U.S. and International Laws and actions to defend human rights and end torture techniques.
The Flagstaff events precede National and International events which will occur on Nov. 15 - 16.
Events include:
Tues. Nov. 4th, 7 pm - NAU Liberal Arts Rm. 135 - Film "War on Democracy"

Thurs. Nov. 6th, 7 pm - NAU College of Business - Forum, NAU Prof. Roddy Brett, Human rights activist in Guatemala, Professor and author

Sat. Nov. 8th, 3:30 pm - Flagstaff Main Library - Letter writing campaign to stop torture and defend human rights

Sun. Nov. 9th, 5 pm - City Hall Lawn - Anti-torture candlelight vigil and procession

Tues. Nov. 11, 7 pm - NAU Liberal Arts. Rm. 135 - Film "In Plain Sight"

Thurs. Nov. 13, 7 pm - NAU Newman Center - Forum Father Louie Vitale, Prisoner of Conscience, National speaker on torture and human rights

Fri. Nov. 14, 7 pm - Cline Library Auditorium - Play "Nightwind" performed by Hector Aristizabel, Psychotherapist, torture survivor, Director Theater of the Oppressed

Sat. Nov. 15 - Sun. Nov. 16 - Caravan to Ft. Huachuca - International actions to close down the School of The Americas and The School of Interrogation.
