Looking into the face, a murdered migrant youth

TUCSON -- (Oct. 30, 2008) Francisco Javier Dominguez Rivera was a son and grandson, loved by many. But in the United States, many would like to see a void when they look to the south, instead of the face of a 22-year-old that worked hard to send money home to his family. The tears shed by his mother in the courtroom here today in Tucson, are the tears shed by all mothers, who raise their children with high hopes for a good and long life. The jury is now debating this horrendous act of violence by US Border Agent Nicholas Corbett. If Corbett had murdered a 22-year-old white youth from Tucson's wealthy northside, unprovoked, would the outcome be the same?Listen to the voices from the street today, standing next to Francisco Javier's shrine outside the courthouse, and look into the face of Francisco Javier. He had high hopes for his future.
